You are most certainly not alone.  I have been abusing pills for 2 years.  I was up to 15 pills a day 2 months ago.  I too was sick and tired of being sick and tired.  I have a spouse and 3 kids to take care of and was too afraid to go cold turkey.  I have successfully tapered down to a 1/2 pill a day and will taper to zero on Friday.  You can taper but you have to be DETERMINED.
I began attending NA meetings and they have been very helpful.  Also, the amino acid protocol appears to be working for me as I started on it 4 days ago.  I was becoming very depressed and lethargic but the L Tyrosine and SamE have had a positive impact on my mood and energy levels (at least for the last few days).
Good luck to you and keep coming back to read and post.

Welcome to the forum.  Lots of help and encouragement here ----  One of our members said something not too long ago and I will never forget it -- it helped me to quit.  They said  "When your desire to be clean is stronger than your desire to use, then you will get clean."  or words to that effect.  What you are about to do is difficult - but very doable.  Two ways, as you know, are tapering and CT.  Either way works as long as you do several things .   1.  set a quit date - firm.   2.  find someone to be accountable to.    3.  Cut off your supply of drugs (this was my hardest to do --- had to tell my doctor knowing that she would stop my supply. (You cannot quit if you want to leave a door open for that "just in case I change my mind" moment.  If you do you WILL fail.)  4.  Share with close friends or spouse what you are doing  You absolutely cannot do this in secret -- you will fail without help.  Good luck to you Jbb,  Everyone on here wishes you the best ----  Please -- keep posting and let us know how you are --  Also read the other posts.  Both of these help.

Hey Man, I two was in your place 7 months ago and was sitting in front of my computer laying out tears also and found this site and when the first person reached out to me (sadinmichigan) I lost it! It felt so good to know others have been through this and have conquered it. There are many different ways to go about this my small input would be to be honest w/ all the people around you who care. That really helps in the short and long term. You will be accountable to them and you will find out how good life can be when your not chasing pills. People here will do alot to help you just keep posting. I am praying for you even before you get this. Stay Strong.....................Brad

Welcome to the forum.. I did not trade pain management Dr. but I did swap addictions for a number of years.. Never really had the hunger to get clean till Therapy one I choose to participate in.. I had to work on the reasons for continued use.. Is there someone in your life you trust to hold your pills as a taper even a quick one will be to your benefit.. It sounds like you have been through the wd process.. Keep posting asking questions.. Reading the forum for me is what gave me the push I needed to get straight.. Went through the last wd 2 mo. ago and feel like a great burden has been lifted.. The depression on the pills was worse for me then off.. If you ever need to talk I'm here please feel free to contact me.. I wish you well on your journey.. lesa
