My fiance is complaining of severe reflux. Can this be caused by snorting percocets?

I am convinced my fiancé is addicted to percocet 10/325 which he is prescribed 4x daily. He gets his prescription around the first of the month and I have noticed a pattern in money disappearing from our account every month at about the same time. (about 2 weeks prior to new prescription.) On two occasions I have walked in on him snorting the pills. He says its because his pain is so bad that he sometimes snorts half a dose to get the meds to kick in faster but he rarely does it. This morning  I found an ink pen cylinder in his coat pocket. I'm not stupid. He is snorting regularly and buying pills because he is running out before his prescription gets refilled. All of his friends or associates are on pain meds.....and he talks about how messed up they are but denies he has problem. He "legit needs them" he says. Anyway the past couple of weeks he has developed severe heartburn, indigestion and acid reflux. Do you think this could be related to his snorting the pills?

Hi..Gnarly is right as your fiance does have a Serious issues here.  These type of meds will change our Brain & Body chemistry. Addiction is a Disease, as it changes the Brain and our Behaviors..You can do some research and find out about what does happen.
Yes, snorting can cause some serious damage, not only to the nose, but all the way down to the stomach and possibly throughout the intestinal. I know this for a fact, as I snorted my methadone (and other street drugs yrs & yrs before this) with another med, but before that I swallowed the hydo/oxys. I have over 4yrs clean time and suffer from a inflamed stomach at the top and all the way up the throat to my mouth from snorting. HE really needs help before it all come crashing down.
This disease does not care who we are. If he is snorting and running out weeks ahead, then he most likely build up his tolernce and/or taking them for other emotional reasons. This is a very vicious cycle that most of us had been in. Look up Addiction in a more scientific way and maybe it will make some since to him. Have him hit a meeting or so. He will see that he has become addicted to these and it has taken over his life. I wish you both the best and Pray that he will get help now!!!
Bless U

Hi and welcome to the forum....as for the reflux it is hard to say but if you take them on a empty stomach it can do that......your B/F has a problem....once you start snorting you cross the line into addiction .....this is a progressive disease that only gets worst with time.....it does not sound like he wants to quit an time soon and you cant force him to  I do recamend alanon meetings it is for people living with addicts  you need to take care of yourself and not enable him keep posting for support
