i need help. dont know what to do

I'm 22 and have been on hydrocodone for 4 years now. I was introduced to this drug after a skull fracture. I was experiencing head aches and migraines. Today I am a functioning addict. I take over 6 10/325 in a day and its taking over my life. I've tried quitting cold turkey but I'm not strong enough mentally. The pain and sickness is unbearable. I don't have rich parents to fund 60k on a fancy rehab. No health insurance. I don't live by my parents or any family members for that matter. 4 states away. I suport myself and this devil drug is starting to my work. I'm lazy to get out of bed, I sometimes just dose off. I seem to not go tosleep without it. I get the drugs for free as I spend no money for them. I have never had a drug charge and I've never had a drug dealer or bought them off the street. And I think this is why it was so easy to get addicted.
So I guess the question I'm asking is how do I get off this stuff? Any pointers? I'm sick of hydrocodone taking over my life. I don't feel healthly anymore. I would have quit along time ago if it wasn't for the pain. The only reason I'm on it is because of the sickness. I'm so lazy. All the time. I don't ever want to do anything.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Jmb

Hey JMB - how are you doing.  I just wanted to throw a little support your way and tell you that there is hope, you can do it but as MikeinFrance said it isn't an easy way out - I will echo everything he said above.  I am in Day 12 off hydros and it feels great.  Day 2-3 were h3ll but once I got past that I felt a little better every day.  It's up and down emotionally as we have altered our brain chemistry and it just takes time to heal.  For me it was just a mental decision I made because I was lazy just like you.  There are all different types of people on here -we are teachers, nurses, truck drivers, consultants.  I think sometimes people get this view of a bunch of junkies greasing around and it feels negative to jump on here and admit you are having an issue.  I'm just like you - they were prescribed for pain and somewhere along the way they quit working but I kept taking them even though they weren't working.  It doesn't matter how you got here or whether you buy your drugs off the street or get them from a doctor - what matters is you've identified that you have an issue, you've reached out for help and we'll be here.  You've made a brave first step..........will you come a little further?  Post here and we will support you.

I myself tapered down, it still stinks but I think it was less in duration and intensity than going c/t off a higher dose.  Over a couple weeks I kept cutting my dose until I was down to 1 pill then stopped.  Any of us will answer any question you have about detoxing at home.

Set your mind to it, get rid of any pills in the house and reclaim your life.  I'm pulling for you!

Hi, there is no easy way off this drug. Understand that from the beginning!  You didn't get addicted on your first pill so the addiction wont disappear after your last pill is taken. Your dosage is high but there are many here with much higher doses and they are here with 5-10-30 - 90 Days +++ behind them drug free. isn't it time for you to do the right thing for yourself ? How long can it continue? Whats the likely outcome if it does continue?  Those are the questions that I asked myself 28 Days ago when I stopped snorting 250mg of oxynorm per day.... A huge amount that I built up to over one year of never missing a day...all day everyday! I didn't have any problem getting it either. Never from a dealer and never from the street. Listen, when u stop it will be difficult and sometimes hellish for the first few days .... So Thats where u need to be your strongest. I'm not calling u a baby at all but just knows that babies rarely make it here! Dont even have 1 pill nearby when u do this. And create as much of a distance as u can from getting one. Get past the first 3-4 days and u will begin to feel amazingly better! I promise you! It's a decision for you to make for u .... It's a life or death decision.... Please don't delay making this decision cuz it's a REAL decision unlike any other we must make in life!

HI IF YOU tryed C/T and that dident work you can try tapering we have a lot of successful members who tapered off it takes some discipline and perseverance but just take a little less every 3 days till your down to 1 then jump it sounds like you have a steady supply this is a race one buy the tortus not the hare just take your time if you go into withdrawals just hang in there a few extra days they will pass this might be a practical way for you to break free ......keep posting for support good luck and God bless........Gnarly
