like u when i was done i was just flat done and i tried a taper til my 4 day weekend off work but sukked miserably at it and only made me more depressed...what did the pills do for me in the end? nuttin..absolutely nuttin cept make me feel like a loser and took myself away from me....depressed, popping pills to feel normal/no buzz anymore, isolating, living a life that wasnt a life popping pills in my kitchen! trying to re-capture sumpin that was long gone..and never to return again...sounds a bit stupid dont it? lOl (: COL ): .....but that is what i did and that is why i quit
There really aint alot of diff. my Dr explained it this way, he said i was dependant because of pain so that i could lead a normal life, so in other words i needed pain meds to function. But addiction is when you need pain meds to get you thur normal life, he said your addicted when you have to have pain meds to cope with everyday life and to keep from w/d. I dont know if I totally agree with that, but after i got into full blown addiction and abuseing my meds and not just using for pain but to cope with life, then I can see what he was trying to tell me. Hope this helps and only you know where you are at with this, if you feel its time to do something then it is time to do something Good Luck
You have reached the point we all reach that we realize we are on the road to destroying everything we are or hope to be. That is an important step. I recommend that you use a written taper schedule and keep track of your progress for example below is something similair to what I used from tapering off suboxone:
Date
Day # of taper period
Scheduled dosage today
Actual dosage today
Variance (difference between actual and scheduled - should be zero but does not always is the case)
When you keep track like this you have a well documented plan to get to zero.
Once you hit zero I cannot urge you strongly enough to get rid of all your pills and cut off your sources to get more. You will go thru withdrawal and the severity and length of this varies from person to person. I had about 10 really bad days and did not get past the difficult period for about 3 weeks. Others struggle longer and others struggle for only a few days. But be prepared and do not allow yourself the option of getting a pill if you are having a tough day. That is my best advise. Just wait it out even if you do not sleep, or eat. It will run its course and then you will start to get better day by day.
Good luck and do not allow failure to be an option (play the song from Rocky) or say I will not fail 100 times a day or do whatever will help you, from God to NA to anything else that works for you.
What's the difference betrween dependant and addicted and any place where I can read more about that?
Good luck too you, and if you stayed on 4 per day for 6 years, you are more depenant than addicted not try'n at all to minimize your situation, cuz if you are considering uping your dose for more oain reliefe its time too take a close look at your self and see what the next step in your life is. You most deff. dont want to go thur life getting higher and higher untill one day you wake up and you are in full blown addiction, with the lieing and pill counting, and wondering how to get your next fix, and being consumed with thinking about your pills all the time. Good luck we are here to help.
They take everything from you.
I did a taper. Took me 3 weeks but I did it and it worked for me.
Could not have done any of it without the support of this form and the friends I have met here.

Yep the pills will rob you of everything including your soul. I am glad you have found this site and are doing something about it. Stay positive in your thinking......it will really help. Hopefully your pain will lessen after you are done with them too.....mine did. Keep posting sara
Yes - the pills eventually take much more than they give. Its very good that you realize this now before you try and bump up your dose. Most of us are no good at tapering. I would even go so far as to say that if you can taper, you may not have a serious addiction. It sounds like you have a good plan and the proper attitude. Thats a large part of the battle. Best of luck to you and use this forum for questions or support..........
