All for just a little pill...AGHH... HELP!!

I called my doctor this week to get a refill on my script of adderalls. They called back today & said that they have a list from DHEC of all my scripts & that I got a higher quantity back in June. (They got that list in August) And this month this list said that I got them from another doctor & they realized the DEA # matched none of their doctors DEA #. I couldn't do anything from my body being numb because I'd been caught.

I tried coming off of the medicine last month & couldn't do it. Now I've hit rock bottom. I'm so scared I wish I'd never started the medicine 15 years ago. But I can't go back now.

I played dumb & told the nurse I didn't want this medicine anymore. She said Ok & we hung up. But what happens now? I've already checked out the NA meeting in my area & I want to get help!!! This was my answer to finally stopping this horrible medicine.

I want to call my Dr. monday & tell him I have a problem & if he will help me with treatment. But I'm scared & very embarrassed. Cause I'm not sure if this was noticed by DHEC or if he just pulled my script list himself because of my suspicious behavior. He's always been helpful to me with anything & I just did this to him. The only thing that bothers me was earlier this year I was only taking 30mg a day. I went to him cause they stopped working cause I wasn't taking them properly. I asked could he switch me to another medication and he said he would just up my strength. Which he did to 70mg a day. I felt like it was my cry for help but I just went along with my addiction.

If I get in trouble with the law, I will loose EVERYTHING!!! And right now, I have the best life anyone could want! I'm so stupid for letting this little pill take over my life!

Any suggestions on what I should do????

HI  sounds like the pharmacy computers cought up to you most of the time all the doctors
involved get informed and they all cut you off....that being said are you ready to quit???
getting off adderill wont come with a physical detox but the physiological dependence is going to have to be delt with....you are showing addictive behaviors getting more pills then what is prescribed by on doctor and taking more then prescribed this in itself needs to be addressed N/A has a good program it will teach you the skills and tools to manage your addiction dont under estimate how serious this is just because its not physically dependent this is going to be like coming off meth let just say you a a purer form of it
stick around the forum post for support for the next week or so your not going to feel right without this med.....just pase yourself and take it one day at a time let us know how you feel and keep talking to us we will help you all we can good luck and God bless.....Gnarly

You've already taken three huge steps; 1. you admitted you have a problem, 2. you have decided to quit and 3. you've reached out for help.

If this is the first time you've been "caught" by your treating physician, then there is no reason that you shouldn't call him on Monday and fess up.  I'm sure he will be ready and willing to help you, or at least, lead you in the right direction to get that help.  Believe me, you won't be the first patient to come to him and tell him they've become addicted to their prescribed medication.  And don't be embarrassed, it sounds like you, at one time, had a good relationship with this Dr.  That relationship will be a good foundation for the two of you to get started on getting you clean.  You just have to be honest with him from this point forward.

Congrats to you for realizing it all has to stop.  This decision will be one of the most important decisions of your life.  You should feel very good about yourself for realizing you have a problem, because no matter what the circumstances were that brought you here, you ARE here.  And if this is the first time you've had trouble with the DHEC or any Dr. then it seems unlikely to me that you'd be in any trouble with the law.
