Suboxone Withdrawal

I have been taking 16mgs of Suboxone for 4 weeks and I am ready to get off.  Will I go through withdrawals if I stop cold turkey?

Thats all good stuff!  Meetings, therapy and spiritual work are so important and when used in conjunction with sub probably yield the best results.  You've been on 4 weeks now, so don't be too hasty to jump off, tapering will work best.  If you are positive about wanting off, be adamant with your doctor.  Lots of docs believe in the long term or even forever maintenance schedule... which are options for some. You have to know yourself and what your capable of.  The people I have talked to that have positive stories concerning quitting sub are those that tapered down to tiny crumbs/slivers every few days before stopping all together.  You seem to be very positive and determined and kudos to you!  Best of luck and keep us posted.

Thank you refusingbondage.
Yes, the sub is prescribed by a doctor.  It has worked really well up to this point (for the withdrawals and cravings for opiates). I have been reading up on suboxone and the last thing I want to do is get addicted.  I am going back to the doctor next week and I am going to request to be taken off. I have been doing really well with prayer/meditation and also hitting 4-5 meetings a week. I am sure the doctor will be able to give me advice on how to come off of the sub.  I just want to come off sooner than later.

Hi Ceejo.  I would not suggest jumping c/t off 16mg of subs.  Is it possible: sure.  But most likely you will have withdrawal coming off 16mgs.  Try tapering down to a smaller amount..  Is the sub doctor prescribed? Talk to your doctor about a taper plan.  If this is not possible, I would still suggest a taper - even if its a rapid taper.  You can prob drop from 16mg to 8mg with little trouble.. then reduce 2mg every week until your down to a tiny teeny little sliver or crumb of sub. .  Good luck.
