HI....welcome to the forum.....so you decided to get off methadone and are really hurting from it.....what dose did you jump off from??? the withdrawals depend a lot on how long you where on it....11 yrs is a long time and what your dose was when you quit typically the physical withdrawal last about 2 weeks then you just feel crappy fro the rest of the month
most people complain about the energy crash.....that in its self can be debilitating...I  was on the stuff at 150ml for 6 1/2 yrs and it took a good 90 days to start to feel better dont get discouraged you slowly get better as you go along....I just dont candy coat it the stuff is a grind to get off right now try a heating pad and a hot soak to eaze the aches and pains
good nutrition is critical to getting well....go to walmart and pick up some whey protein shake mix a 2lb can cost 15 bucks its loaded with vitamins essential amino acids as well as the protein all of witch the brain needs to heal drink 2 a day the chocolate flavor is good you just mix it with milk this will speed up your recovery and dosent cost much
you can also get liquid B-complex a dropper full in the morning will help in the afternoon with energy.....the energy crash is the hardest part of going threw this you have to force yourself to exercise...start with a walk around the block and work your way up from there
I cant stress this enough ....all together I had 10yrs on the pills then 6 1/2yrs on the methadone so I broke a 16 1/2yr habit it was ruff but it is doable it going to take everything you got to do this....you will want to give up....i know I did but with determination and perseverance you will make it threw....I also dont believe you can do this alone you will need outside support both N/A and A/A offer free programs and you can share what your feeling with people that will understand theres also addiction therapist and substance abuse conslors ...most methadone clinics provide consoling after you get off as well....get plugged in somewhere you will need the support
Last I just want to congratulate you in making the choice to get off after 11yrs we have had 2 other long term methadonioans Billy was 17yrs and cookie was 12 yrs and both have made it clean and sober so dont loose hope its tuff but it can be done and in the end it is so so worth it hang in there keep posting for support good luck and God bless....Gnarly

Read this whole thing, it might help. I was a methadone patient for 3 yrs at 190mg.  On Friday, I quit the clinic and decided to go cold turkey.  The next day I started to feel kind of ****** and decided to try some subutex at about 2pm.  I thought it would be ok since it doesn't contain naloxone like suboxone.  Even though i hate buprenorphine, I injected just a 1/4 of a pill to see if it helped.  After about a minute I started to get this weird feeling and within 5 minutes it was the worst feeling I have ever experienced.  It was like i was speeding and withdrawling.  My ears were ringing, felt like hair was standing on end, and just plain hell.  My gf rushed me to the ER and my then it was pure hell.  The er gave me some clonidine(which did nothing) and that was it.  I got pissed and left.  It was now 5pm and I still was in hell.  At about 8pm it started to let up.  I slowly started to feel better over the next few days.  It is now 11pm on Tuesday and I feel surprisingly good. I have withdrawaled many times over the past ten years and this isn't that bad.  Now I am no doctor but what I think happened was that buprenorphine being an opiate antagonist binded with the methadone still in my body causing instant withdrawal.  So the hell I experienced was simply extreme withdrawal.  It seems like it compressed the whole withdrawal process into basically 48 hrs, granted it was the worst 2 days of my life, but I think I am ok now.  Several times in the past I had ended up taking my whole week dose of methadone in two days trying to get high and was sick for the next five days. So I really don't know why i am not sicker right now, but I think what i said earlier might explain it.  I am actually starting working for UPS in the morning.  But who knows, maybe I'll start jonesing my *** of any minute.

how much were you doing before you stopped? did you taper from a clinic or were you buying on the street?definitely become a slave to the bottle. i am sure you know about the half life of meth. my husband just detoxed 9 months ago from 10 years on meth. when he jumped off he was on 20 mg. he definitely couldn't work.the withdrawal is long and hard. there are health pages  on the top right of the page to help with the symptoms. you have to remember you put the poison into your body for 11 years and it is going to take time for it to leave your body. time is the healer. others will be on later to help also. gnarly also did meth. he knows lots about it. keep up the fight and your faith. you will be so free once the chains of bondage are broken. keep posting and reading other posts it will help you get through and encourage you, so many have come before you and it can be done.
i will pray for you
god bless

Well, it probably doesn't feel like it now, but you are making the best decision of your life. I too was addicted to opiates. Snorting/smoking about 300mg of oxycontin daily. It is a sad, dark, evil, lonely existence when you are a slave to your drug. Believe me when I say this, there is a freedom in sobriety, one you'll never find in using drugs. If you can push through the horrible feelings you are experiencing right now, and I know how hard it is, i've detoxed from oxycontin countless amount of times, but there is so much waiting for you on the other side. You can accomplish so much sober. You can truly be yourself, whoever that is, you will find out. You will make decisions based on yourself and not around your drug. You can become an honest person that is present in life, show up for others, genuinly feel good about yourself and who you are. There are so many gifts sobriety has to offer. Most importantly you can use your own experiences to help another person still struggling.

How many days has it been since you last used? I know methadone addiction can go on for a while, can you take time off work to focus on getting better? You don't have to go through this alone, hopefully you'll consider some kind of support system like NA maybe? or AA? People want to help you, don't do it alone, and don't forget you deserve to live life sober, you are worth it.
