Hi Bree ,  After long use , Pain pills increase the pain your brain feels . It's really your brain in panic wanting it's pills .My pain took about 30 days to ease after months of 100mg Norco a day .  I can now feel some relief using heat and Advil .
I find i can deal with the pain better now off Norco . Sure One or two  pills will relieve pain for 1-2 hours but the pain always comes back so we take more pills , Then Soon we need the pills to do anything .
My pain will ease in hours now without the pills , The pills only caused addiction . and the no life of pills running my life , the up's & down's every 2-3 hours the lost interest in friends & family .
I am only 56 days pain pill free but now feel so much better every day .
Have my life back , can do things all day long without running home because the pills need to be taken. I can leave my house without pills in my pocket to get thru the day or night .
You can kick this, I  myself and lots of others have with the help and advise from people on this site who have done it ,they know what to advise and will be the support you need . Post questions when your ready , you just have to want to quit bad and fight hard for a few days . You can do it ...Ron

Hey Bree,

Welcome to the forum - there are lot of people here that can chime in and give you great advice - you have come to the right place.

I too have Crohn's and used that for many years as a crutch to have a free pass to pain meds. Sometimes, I really did have pain and others, i would exaggerate so that I could get more pain meds.

The only way to really get to the bottom of this and beat this is to be honest - specifically with your doctor. If he knows you are addicted, he may come up w/ alternative options.

I'm 32 days clean and i still have it tough once in a while but it's never been as bad as you are feeling like right now - i remember that feeling of hopelessness, guilt, shame, anger, anxiety, depression, etc. You CAN get through this, it will require some work and some not so pleasant days, but it definitely is possible.

I have been diagnosed with crohns disease and arthritis. I have taken the norco daily for 3 years. I know im addicted. My meds for my diseases keep getting more and more aggressive and sometimes i wonder if i werent so use to using the norcos would i really be in so much pain to where i need such aggressive medication. Or am i lying to them and myself about how much pain im in. My meds have very severe side effects and it scares the hell out of me but i guess not enough to quit taking the norcos. I guess what i would like advice on is just learning to be honest with myself and figuring out if i can live day to day without norcos.
