not a drug addict

I started having siactic nerve pain and have no health insurance. I started taking other family members pills for pain which did not help at all, my dad took oxy for his pain and I thought that I would try it for mine. I have only been on it for only two month's . I stoped cold turkey 5 day's ago. What I was wondering was when does the withdraws stop? The night sweats? The Chill's? I am really misserable and uncomfortable. I have thrown those devil pill's away. Please give me some advice on how to handle this, thank you in advance.

Click on the Thomas Recipe and Amino Acid Protocol and the bottom right of this page. That will help with symptoms and the healing of brain chemistry. Exercise, lots of fluids, and eat what you can, protein shakes are good if you can't eat. Two months isn't long, but long enough to be physically addicted. I'm glad you chose to stop before it got worse.

How many mgs where you taking daily? Are the fast acting or time release? Do you have a fast metabolism, healthy liver, healthy kidneys? Do you eat a lot of fresh fruits, vegetable, protien? Do you take vitamins with B complex. Many things play a factor. I would guess two weeks acute withdrawal and then two weeks of your energy increasing. Every body is different.

Good, you were on a relatively low dose. You might buy some Ensure to keep your energy up a little. It may not be two weeks of acute withdrawal, but 7-9 days. Just tell yourself you have the flu and try to relax as much as you can. My theory is, your brain heals while you're sleeping and the sweats are your brain yelling, "Where is my dose of Dopomine, I can't rest." Your brain is working overtime to try and start manufacturing natural pain killer again, dopamine, as the Oxy leaves your body. So you get sweats when you try to go to bed. Not sure, but insomnia is normal unfortunately. You've come a long way. Keep it up, you are almost there.

All I can add to weavers excellent advice is to just surrender to the physical process and know time is what you need now. You should be soooo very happy you stopped very early into this game of pills as they will turn on you and the detox just gets worse with time. At 5 days, you will turn the corner anyday now. Try to stay busy, exercise as much as you can and take a good multivitiam. Shut your brain down immediately if it starts talking to you trying to get you to "just take one pill". It is amazing how the brain does that. Keep posting for support....xx

It will go away soon I promise! I have been complaining about the night sweats as well. Today is my day 5 and I woke up with out any at all just a little cold from the fan. I did take Imodium last night and they say it helps the rls and night sweats. Well either it really does work or I was at the point of when it stops. Everyday I take potassium and l tyrosine. At night I take melatonin or unisom and I sleep well through the night from about 10pm to 7am. You will get through this!

It feels lonely when you want to stop and don't know what to expect. I'm glad you have a good attitude and are on your way to being clean. Always remember how you feel. Now you have been physically addicted to opiates. Next time will be harder, so please be careful and find other ways of relief. I'm  glad my addiction has a purpose, serving other addicts. God Bless You. Keep us posted and stay strong.

Feeling  lot's better if I could just get rid of the chill's when it is not even cold out or in room. Stomach kind of upset but I can handle it,.My pain in my leg from the siatic nerve is returning which made it hard to sleep last night. I cried like a baby, sorry but it hurts. I think my withdraw syptoms are starting to calm down now thank god for that because with out him none of this would be possible for me to get through. I wish everyone well here on this day and pray for strength for those in need. Have a great Monday.

What day of detox are you on? Can you get a massage or go to a chiropractor for some relief? Also stretches help me when my back hurts. Have you tried advil at a rx dose (800 mgs) every 6 hours? Hang in there and position yourself in a way that hurts you least. Congrats on your clean time.

yes, i do hae somthing that will halp the sciatic pain, and i promise it will, but you have to have an open mind ,and take the risk, the risk is: about ten bucks. yup, ten bucks.
read this book: "Healing Back Pain" by Dr. John Sarno. it also covers sciatica, tennis elbow, fibromyalgia, which is the one I suffered from big time, read the book, took the advise and I was healed in two weeks, and everyone who has read the book, about 1/3 of the people I pushed it on, has also been cured. and I say CURED. You have to get past the idea that a book cannot help you, because it can, it will if you follow the advise. I was hrrible with back pain and numbness in extremities, pain was terrible, and the book's advise healed me.

as far as the WD, hang in there, it gets better and better until one day you are like, woh, i havnt felt this good in years!

You can do it, and keep posting please,
hugs,
Lily

I am 9 day's off from the devil's pill oxy and have to say the withdraw symptom's I think have come to an end. Last night I did'nt have the chills when I went to bed for the first time since stopping. Thank God because I was roasting my family in the humidity and heat lol. I suffer with pain but would rather be in pain then on oxy and walk around like zombie. I am so glad I found this foprum and getting as lot of advice and help from friends I have not met personaly but now have place in my heart. Thank you. =)Waterlilly7 > I am going to buy that book and give it a try because at this point I am ready for anything that could help me live pain free. Thank you.Weaverm17 I would like to say thank you for being the first person to answer my plea for help at a very desperate time, I was so scared not knowing what to expect. God bless all who take the time to reply to me and pray you too and those who have to live in pain on a daily basis find healing.
