Hi! As ariley13 said there are many things that can affect fertility (including low sperm count/poor motility.) Have your periods been interrupted since you started the meds? Some women's cycles stop completely on certain opiates (particularly stronger ones.) However, plenty of women become pregnant on them, as well. (So, it's certainly not a sure-fire method of birth control!) Stress & anxiety about wanting to get pregnant can DEFINITELY affect fertility. Have you and your husband gone to see a specialist about all this? Wishing you both a happy outcome! Please, let us know how it goes. We're here.
Hi there. There are a ton of things that can affect fertility. Your best bet is going to be to go to your doctor and discuss this with him/her. Try not to stress too much about this. Stress can cause problems conceiving too. You are very young, and have plenty of time to focus on having a baby. Right now get with your dr and get you taken care of. Good luck to you!
Hi! I know for sure that it can affect menstrual cycles, so I'm guessing that since it can throw that off, it could cause trouble getting pregnant? The other problem you face is that if you get pregnant and carry the baby to term with taking daily opiates, your baby will likely need detox once he/she is born.
It's a lot to think about, I know, but I just wanted you to cover your bases since you're currently trying! I would talk to more than one doc and get their take on this! :) Best of luck to you!
Hi Bama, I'm not sure if opiates interfere with getting pregnant, but I'd try really hard to work on an alternant means of pain relief before you conceive. Have you expressed your wishes to your OB and explained your situation? I know your in a catch 22, but I've read so many post on here of ladies conceiving while on meds and it has brought much worry for them. Hopefully more will be along that can answer your question. Best of luck to you on making your dreams come true :)
