I found a great doctor in Chicago...if anyone needs the info just PM me.  It is $100 for the first visit and you get the prescription for subutex and suboxone that day.  He was very understanding and educated about addiction.  I took my first dose of subutex today and will take a 1 dose for the next 2 days and then go to the suboxone. He said 1 year is a typical stay on suboxone.  This is the only thing that concerns me. I have heard mixed reviews about how long to stay on this medication.  Any comments from those who have used it. I really want to stay sober from vicodin but don't want to stay on another drug any longer than I need to.  I have heard great things about this treatment and hope it works for me.  I really want to get sober and stay sober.  I am so relieved that I finally took this step and have NO vicodin in my house.  This site really helped me to get the courage to take this step.  I thank everyone that participates in this forum for your support.

I see you go to meetings that is great , a recovery program is sooooo important .It is very important to have a good support system.Make sure that you are comfortable with the length of time you are going to take the sub ... I would research research research then choose the length of time that you think will befit you the most

I was taking vicodin and how much really depended on the type.  I always tried not to go over the 4000 mg of tylenol per day.  So if I had 10/325 I took up to 10 per day if I had 750/750 I took 5 or 6 and so on.  I have been taking it daily for over a year.

That is great !!!! I am gald you found someone in your area ...Some use sub ,long term others use short term (less then  21 days ) There are pros and cons to each .What was you DOC how long and how much had you been taking.
