This was the worst lesson I learned during the 14 years of treating my fibromyalgia condition which is a sleep disorder in itself for me. These chemicals disrupt the brain and body's chemistry which control our body functions, one of which is the sleep/wake cycle. You're getting there but you'll need patience until your brain gets the message (when these drugs dwindle to very little) that it has to once again produce its own chemicals for sleep/wake.
It comes in waves....you will sleep for a couple of days and then you won't.
For OTC you can use 5-HTP (check with your Doc. if you are on SSRI anti-depressants) and Benadryl. It helps make you a little drowsy.
If you can't sleep don't dwell on it......just remember This Too Shall Pass and keep looking forward to a cleaner, happier tomorrow. You will eventually get back to sleeping normal.
Stay strong,

Unfortunately that is the way it goes some times. If I didnt take some meds to knock me out then I wouldnt sleep either. I am sorry you are having a rough time but just remember one day you will be able to sleep again. I have been fighting insomnia for years which made it that much harder for me to sleep. But luckily I remembered I had some seraquil in the medicane cab. and that is the only reason I have been able to sleep. You will be in my prayers. Remember you can do this.
