stopping methadone

I started a methadone treatment about 2 weeks ago & have been taking 40 mg everyday..but after being on it I realized that this is NOT for me..people that I seen at the clinic were so addicted that when they tried to taper off it they got so sick with withdrawals..this might be for some but not for me..I started because the withdrawals scared me, not to just go thru this also which seems alot worse..my question: how long before this is out of my system..I am at day 2 without it & wondering since it stays in your system longer maybe thats why I havent felt withdrawals yet..& since I have only been on it a short amont of time..can i expect the withdrawals to be less severe..just wanting to know

Do not give in and stay on it!!!!!

I knew subs weren't for me.  I kept having doctors, people tell me I needed to stabilize, and a few that were speaking what I could tell was my truth, but was.  What you will go through now , will be nothing compared to the hell you are walking into.  Stick to your guns.  If deciding is part of this equation, then decide to never do it again.  YOU SAW THE REALITY OF METH.  Don't let it take your life.  I SAW A FRIEND on here just get over her last drop of meth.  She paid for it as by blood.   I will support you in any way I can.  Just don't listen to many people's opinions because you have just ******* decided that no matter what, no meth!  Your Strong. Your Powerful.

Compared to other opioids, methadone has the potential to stay in your system for a long time. In fact, the elimination half-life of methadone is anywhere from 8 to 59 hours. It just depends on the dose your on and how long you've had it in your system. I was on 10mg a day for @ a year and a half and I stopped taking it. Just quit. I don't know why nothing happened to me. There were no w/d symptoms whatsoever. Bizarre ... but I was thankful!  Medications can be very 'personal' and obviously methadone is not for you. You SHOULD do exactly what you're doing, let your doctor know this stuff isn't for you! I wish you the very best - take care!

You might be ok after only 2 weeks. And if you do have withdrawls they will be minor. Just dont take anymore!

Hello. I don't have any methadone experience myself, but many here do and can answer your questions. Be patient and someone who's been there will be along. Take care
