Here we go again. 2nd time c/t from Percs

Stopped back in April for 6 days was able to get 5 straight hours of sleep the fifth night. Thought taking 1 perc was fine and here I am two months later wanting to stop again only this time ill never go back cuz I don't have a script for them anymore. Like last time it's a secret from my wife and I have a 2 year old son and I'm just so effing depressed that I'm back in this boat again. As for withdrawals I have no except aching ankles and insomnia. Can anybody tell me if melatonin worked for them and please somebody anybody tell me how quick it was for them to get sleep. Before my relapse I used for 4-6 months on and off with on everyday the last 4 months then the week break and right back here for another two months. Please talk.

Telling your wife was a very important step...Cutting all sources, telling your secret and getting after care are three basic things that should be included in your LONG-TERM recovery plan. Leave any of those steps out and the odds are against you. Good job.

Hi there, today is my day 12 clean, I was a very chronic perc user, I was popping, ( and not kidding ) up to 80 a day sometimes, I had built up such a tollerance to them i had to take at least 20 at once to get high, my husband never knew of my addiction I had tried to stop many times, but could not explain to him why i was feeling so crappy so I relapse... always.... this time, someone else ( outted ) me to my hubby, cause i could never tell him for fear of what he would do, well when he found out, he has been nothing but super supportive, he told me he wants me to be alive, that the day he met me he knew I was the women he wanted to be with forever....... that changed everything for me, b/c having his support is the biggest most important thing, he then understood what i was going through .... with the WD, I didn't have to lie.... with that being said, you said your wife does not know your secret... I think you should sit her down and tell her, you NEED her support to help you in your recovery... it really does make a world of difference when our spouses know.... it lifts a very heavy weight we carry on our shoulders, and it makes getting clean and STAYING clean so much easier... I know I'm only day 12.... but for me that's a mile stone.............. Good luck on your recovery... keep posting... many great people hear!!

Melatonin works along with Alteril like toothfairie described. Try not to fight the sleep thing. All that does is cause sleep anxiety. Accept that you'll be very tired and frazzled for a few more days, kick back and try to relax and take your mind off of it by doing something else. It will go much easier for you.

Getting clean is just a fraction of time compared to staying clean for the long haul. I go to NA. In our basic textbook chapter 5 is "What Can I Do?" The book only has 2 short paragraphs dedicated to detoxing. The remaining several pages are on what it takes to stay clean. Things like "Gradually, we replace old habits with new ways of living. We become willing to change." You need to start thinking about what your plan will be for taking part in your own recovery. The drugs leave the body but the addiction stays in the brain just waiting for a chance, an excuse, or a slip-up to put you right back in the same old squirrel cage again. Recovery need to be the number 1 priority.

PS - just because you don't have a script doesn't mean you'll never go back. **** poor reason to stop.

You need to be more concerned with what you need to do to get and stay clean and not with what helps with detox. You've got your priorities screwed up.  You're not talking at all about a recovery. Why bother with advice and encouragement when you'll only relapse as soon as you can get meds? Maybe I missed something...an earlier post??

Oh and i was on Norco 10's for many years so that's prolly why it took me so long to get some sleep.

Melatonin did/does work for me...i was taking Alteril (which has melatonin in it) at first but it smelled so bad i just switched to reg melatonin....but honestly, nothing worked for the first couple weeks that much....it was a hit or miss...hopefully since your using was a short time that sleep will come back quickly....

Glad to see you back on track!  keep pushing thru and don't fight the no sleep thing....just try to relax and watch movies or listen to music....comedies helped me alot and so did hot baths with epsom salts.
Good luck and keep posting when you need support!!
