I was on buprenex for over a year before they came out with the pill form. I also was on the suboxone later and I can say that the suboxone was much more difficult to completely kick. This is a drug that is made to bind to receptors so one can stop taking whatever opiate they are taking. I think it works quite well for withdrawal symptoms of other opiates but what to do once on the suboxone. Once you stop taking the sub completely it stays in the system for a  long time. So one has to have persistence. SOme exercise will help, sweating and getting your own endorphins going again.Just know that once you go past a certain timeframe taking this drug the more it will bind with these opiate receptors and the more it binds the worse the withdrawal. Good luck

Hi Kittycat.  If you have been on sub longer than a few months, then your secret will be to taper down.  You can get down to 2mg fairly easily, it seems to be more difficult once you start cutting back from there.  Don't be afraid, right now you need to work on you, you will be fine and when it is time to taper, work with your doctor - talk with him/her, be honest with how you feel and you will get through this OK.  Ask for help here too, there are lots of us who have been in your shoes and can help you walk all the way.

Kitty,

You posted this at 2 a.m. on a Sunday morning (evening). Most members here work and need to get up in the morning. Although this is an international site and you can usually find someone here, the folks in the states are asleep at that hour. Please be patient.

HI the trick with sub is the same for methadone dont stay on it that long...I made the mistake of living on methadone for 6 1/2 yrs so my withdrawal was ruff....most people I have read about on sub did ok getting off it if they used it for a short time ......those that use it for years have a real struggle coming off it....its best not to read anything into your withdrawals its different for everyone and the fear of withdrawals is often worst then the withdrawal itself .....keep your time on sub short and you should be fine good luck and God bless......Gnarly
