There wouldn't be any chance of getting addicted to naprosyn. It is pretty much just a stronger version of ibuprofen. I say give it a shot and see how it works. If you take it with food you shouldn't have to worry about it messing up your stomach. It may be an effective form of pain relief. Some meds work better than others depending on the person. If this one doesn't work, try a different one.
I am using naproxan for chronic pain. Naproxan and Naprosyn are in the same class of nsaid's and actually when dispensed in generic may be the same drug. I have had great sucess with the naproxan. I wouldn't ever give it a chance when I was getting narcotic painkiller and when I got clean and had no choice but to try it and guess what it works great for me. I have to take at least one a day to keep the pain away and as long as I take it with food I have no stomach problems. I think it is a safe drug and could not see getting addicted to it. Give it a try and I think you will be very pleased by how well it works.
thanks guys -i will very suspiciously give it a go (like my dr said...) but he wont let me take them untill after my endoscopy on the 14/10.... so until then *pain is my friend...*
cheers T.
ummm -couldnt wait for endoscopy, been on them for 4 days -they seem to be helping -trouble is now i can 'do' more so it kind of cancels out.... oh well.... all good...
thanks all

Hi! I certainly commend you for trying this non narcotic route. I do want to caution you on listening to your doctor about the stomach thing. We have to start holding ourselves accountable for following the rules and not self diagnosing! That is what got a lot of us in trouble!!! : ) Me for sure!!! If the doc says wait, eventhough it's hard, you need to do that. I hate pain. I TOTALLY feel you there, but you don't want to end up in the hospital with the doctor standing over you with the "look" and the "you should have done what I said" lecture!
I am proud of you for trying to do the right thing here, but I just want to bring this to your attention, ok?!! Good job on your clean time! : )
lol -my Dr would LOVE to give me that lecture. but seriously i am 99.9% sure that my stomach problems were due to WD's from the tram and oxy and i make sure i only take the nsaid after a good meal... i do understand and also apreciate your concern though.
am at about 40 days of no tram and finally feeling much better -and everyone around me is noticing the old me back. still a long way to go though -but at least i can function again..
thanks all for being here for me and i wish you all the best
