tapering off of 7,5 norcos take 3 a day

I want to know ways people of done a taper off of this amount?  I have a dr. that is helping as well. I have gone off other prescribed meds pain meds, benzos lots, I did that cold turkey, I was tired of being a owned by the meds, still had pain to deal with. I don't recommend any one Cold Turkey especially several meds at once & these strong meds, several years ago, was not a good idea at ALL. the second time the drs put me back on meds I wanted off again, this time I tapered but too quickly and off all at same time. big no no.  This time I had several surgery's over a period of 21/2 years, so back on meds, this time I have a dr helping me, I already was able to taper off the morphine , but it was down to 1/4 of twice a day of 15mg morphine sulphate ir instant release. I did drop one of the 4 norcos I was on, so I was just fearful of stopping the morphine, my anger of being owned by meds & what it was doing to me on all levels of life, I had no life except my husband, church & family, I isolated. the depression was becoming so overwhelming overwhelming, I face my fear, & stopped 1 of the 1/4s with dr supervision, for about 8 days , God must have been helping me it wasn't bad at all, then I stopped the last 1/4 that has been almost a month. My dr had the withdrawal on on opiate wouldn't last probably at most 7 days probably 5, my pharmacist said the same, thing, so I did it. YEAH  freedom from one narotic, Now I want to start on the norco, dumb fear is trying to get in the way, my dr doesn't think its going to be bad at all the way I taper, I just want to know if you think I could stop 1 of the 3 doses altogether  in stead of 1/2 of one of the three to begin taper.  thank you so much...  Kat

I dont think anybody has responded because we cant give tapering advice on here. It will get deleted. Anyways, I just wanted to offer my support. It sounds like your handling it very maturely in that you have asked your doc and pharmacy for advice and help. This shows your not keeping it a secret. It sounds like you have a sound plan if your doc says so. Some people cant taper and others can. Although my last withdrawals were a forced detox in jail, Ive also tapered successfully before. You said you've gone CT before so if you dont have any physical ailments that will become aggravated from taking one med out of your regimen...Id say do it. Anyways, I want to wish you the best of luck and hope you keep us updated.

Hi..I am so glad you have your DR aboard. I went c/t from 3 meds at once back in 2012 and was on these for over 12 years..One was Methadone and one was a benzo..The other was Adderall I brought from the streets to stretch out my dones and give me a Big Buzz.
I would just drop nice and easy and give your brain/body time to adjust to the drop..If you decide to just stop then the Dr can give you a couple of meds that can help. I did not do this for a good 22 plus days, but it did help at night only and that is the Clonidine (bp med) also the Hydoxyzine will help with Anxiety. Most of the time on here I will push all natural..You can get vit/min to help..Some you can take at night and others during the day. The detox will be over soon but it is the mental that is the worse. Time & Patience is what it takes as you work a program. You are drinking lots of water and this is good. The more we build up our Body with good nutrition the better it can take a detox. Get some electrolyte powder and add to water..Pick up some Protein powder too..All the vit/min take time to kick in but it would be good if you start now with all of this..Whatever you decide I do wish you the best. Just keep pushing forward.
Bless

Agh I feel for you, your story is so similar to mine.  I would keep following the doc's taper advice if you can and aren't tempted to take more.  It's not a very high dose and you have been through hellish detoxes, this one won't compare at all.  I'm having surgery AGAIN this summer and am in a pretty bad way with extreme pain and illness.  I fought going back on the drugs as long as I could but I was losing a piece of myself every day to the pain, and the fact is- if I want to hold on to my life and business, I need pain relief until my surgery.  I'm over the fear now.  My bf holds my pills, I have an excellent new GP who has put a great pain management plan in place giving me maximum relief with minimum drugs.  I will taper after my surgery.  I couldn't taper the last time because I'd been abusing the meds and was on SUCH a high dose that I felt like dying every day.  So I just jumped off when I got to 100 mg.  It was not pleasant, but ultimately it was the best thing I ever did.
I know this time is different than last time, and by the sounds of it, it is for you too.
Slow and steady.  You got this.
