This has made me realize that people need me.

I'm presently coming off 4 yrs of 15 mgs a day of methadone and a pretty bad hydrocodone habit.  I had my knees replaced last year and have no excuse to stay on this stuff.  Being so helpless and unavailable to the people I care about and love has made me realize that I'm needed in this world.  I just can't wait to get back to being me.  Any encouragement will help.  The main thing I'm sure everyone wants to know is how long will it take to be able to quit calling in sick.  I'm a teacher and I don't want to lose my job.  I went two days this week, but I had to come home today and already said I can't be there tomorrow.  I paid $145 this year to join ATPE, hopefully I won't need them, but who knows.  I'm following the Thomas recipe and taking 5hr energy drinks.

Thanks

I apologize, I didn't see you 2nd post regarding your clean time.
You did say you weren't able to taper so I'm thinking it's going to be difficult if you get that script filled. Just keep going!!!

If your 7 days from norco, I wouldn't start taking it again. You are already past the worst of the withdrawals. I know the methedone withdrawals can last a long time so that's probably what it is. I took the first two weeks off work so your just not ready yet. at 2 weeks I FORCED myself to go back to work because I needed christmas money. Otherwise I would have been out for a whole month. Have you told your job? I told mine (and i work for a county fire department) and they were very very supportive. It did not harm my job status in any way. I'm sure that you being a teacher, they would act in a similar way. If you go to them before anything happens with your job performance, then they are usually willing to support you in any way. Maybe you should think about going that route.

Just remember, if you start that norco again, just like last time, you'll gobble them all up and then have to withdrawal again. So please please don't take the norco again. If your going to taper from anything, taper from the methedone.

How many days have you been off the narco?
Do you have the strength to taper? The only reason I'm asking is because if you can't taper, you will be right back in the situation your in now. Why not just keep going? Are you drinking enough fluids? Your body is probably dehydrated and you need electrolyte. I drank A TON of Gatorade.
I just want to see you kick this thing once and for all. WD stink and I understand what you mean about work but if there is any way you can stick it out, than do it my friend.
Good luck either way:)

I think I'm on day 7 from narco and probably 14 from the methadone.  Thanks for the encouragement.  In today's world, we need our jobs.  I wasn't able to taper much from either.  The doctor gave me 15 methadone and said, good luck.  Then, like a fool, I took all the narco I had and can't ask for more.  I think when I can refill the narco, I probably will, then do a slow taper off it, so I can work.

I feel ya on the sick time. I call in a lot too. I work 12 hour days and it's very hard to work all day and be tired ALL the time. I managed to go in for 3 weeks straight and had to call out today because I got strep throat. I seem to get every sniffle and sneeze now that I'm clean. How many clean days do you have? It took me 4 weeks to get back to feeling somewhat normal and I'm still very tired all the time at 36 days. I find a combo of a multi vitamin with b complex and ginseng helps a little bit. Plus energy drinks occasionally. Good luck to you.
