i feel that its extremely hard to get off it once u start. also it seems like u have to take more and more for pain relief. i started on vicoprofen half tablet two to three times aday.which is not that much. it equates to 7.5mg -11.0mg a day of hydrocodone.i did this for 8 years. my pain in my back gotworse where i was bedridden for 2-4 days.then i took perccet 10 mg 4 times a day for 2-3 days.then i went back to the vicoprofen and the same dosage i was on prior. but since a year ago my back pain became more frequent of going out with severe pain,so i was given 15 mg of oxicodone 4 times a day. i only took it twice aday.then over a 6 month period i noticed i needed more to feel good and get out of bed to work.so of course i physically needed more to feel okay. that what happens when u have been on oxycodone for over 6 months. so now i take 30 mg 4 times a day and some days i take 2-3 30mg tablets. if i decrease it then i feel so tired and in more pain than before i got on oxycodone.so it is very difficult to tell yourself to ween off it.you still have to work and some days r harder than others so then u feel like u need even more to be productive in your job and with your normal activities. so, my question is what other people have asked.how do u get off when you having to work harder now to make ends meat.? if i answer my own question it would be to taper 25 percent every week untill u r off.the main problem i have is lack of energy. since i do not have anyone to help me around the house than i have more difficulty slowing down ,tapering down.i just wish there was something to give us energy. ive heard about thomas recipe, however never tried it.i buy energy drinks instead. does the subs really work?ive heard it is still similar to the roxys.all i need is to go from one meds to another. my philosophy is to go backwards from where i started.reverse back to where i started.it was much better being on vicoprofen and only take percocet when i am in extreme pain.and not longer than 2-4 days. what do u think?

agree with ochooked...TIME....if u can bear it out for a couple of months u will make it...I am not saying the physical wds will last a few months..that is only a few days or a week or so...the fatigue and depression can be bothersome for months...and this is what causes people to relapse...takes up to 3 months for the receptors to heal enought for us to feel "good" mentally and even then there is bad days..exercise and time...aminos to help the receptors heal...and lots of support...if this was easy everyone would get clean the first try and never look back...we both know that is not reality as most do not make it the first try...because it does take a while to feel good again mentally...and most can not wait it out....take time to work on any issues u may have that caused u to abuse...be positive..stay healthy and get support....give it at least 90 days before u think this fog will never lift

You may try the Thomas Recipe and the Amino Acid Protocol ---- they can be found at the bottom of the page on the right.  They do help.  The biggest single thing is TIME ----  I know that is not what you want to hear when you are going through the W/D process, but after a few days the physical symptoms will decrease.  The mental or emotional part usually takes longer.   Welcome to the forum and please continue to post.  How much and low long were you using?  That will also make a difference in how long it will take to get clean.  Everyone on here wishes you the best but please share more of yourself.
