working out during wds

In the last year I've worked really hard to get my body and pain levels controlled.  I knew that for me to be able to quit the meds I needed to take control and do all the things I could to lower the pain so i wouldn't fall back into using.  So, I went to my chiropractor and acupuncturists on a regular basis and started working out doing HIIT 5 days a week.  I've strengthened m6 muscles around my spine and my core is rock solid and i noticed that I no longer take myoxy/percs for pain any longer.  I take to keep the wds at bay so I'm at the next and final step, quiting this crap.  I'm scared but also relieved.  My question, has anyone been able to keep working out during wds?  I know that this is essential for me to keep my pain in control.  Thanks everybody-  littlegreenghouls

Ending day 2 ct.  Well, I think all the constipation has come to an abrupt end.  Lol.  I swear I've spent a majority of my time chilling in the bathroom.  Ugh.  I feel like one of those red rump baboons.  Anxiety, check, achy, check, sneezing, check, lethargic, check....I think I've started to hit all the typical symptoms.  I'm surprised that I'm handling it as well as I am.  Hope all those starting this journey are holding strong with me:)

I have been using Sparks, a non sugar, amino acid energy powder, 1/2 before I workout.

I do think I'm going to have to skip at least monday.  I'm down to a quarter of what I normally take today and the same for tomorrow and then CT on Saturday.  I'll see if I can but from what I've been reading that may be a little too optimistic?  What do you think?  Would I be able to lift and swing heavy weights around during full blown detox?

Ok, so what I found by pushing myself.  High intensity exercise that includes heavy lifting makes the depression so so so much better.  The actual workout may be very rough but when you finish your spirits are 100% better and it lasts for a long time during the day.  When i got done today I started singing in the car and smiling.  So, if you can, push yourself to workout hard, I've found the hard workouts, really really release massive amounts of endorphins which helps with your outlook.

So day 3 at half my normal dose....ugh...I thought I was dying during workout but that's the price I must pay.  I figure that if I can keep pushing through my w/d won't be as bad as if I just sat around.  Saturday is going to be my CT day.  That way I have a couple days to relax, bath, etc without having g to push so hard.  Idk- I guess there's no good way to get through but to go through it.

Thanks for the advice.  I cut down to half of what I normally take the last two days and the workout today was brutal.  Lol. I'll keep going while at this level because I could make it through but I think you guys are right...I may have to take a few days off during CT to acclimate a little.

You are doing great by exercising and getting your body in shape.  It also helps with our natural endorphins.  They get lazy while we are taking pills.  Keep it going!

Working out and exercising is the best thing you can do to fire up the brain. Redirecting your self is always a great thing. Keep it up and let us know how it goes.

Hi!
Good for you! The best thing is to keep exercising and re-directing your thinking. These type of meds bring down all the serotonin, endorphins and so many more neuro-chems..EXERCISE is the number one key in flipping the brain back over and firing up these chems again. Try hitting some meetings while you are at it. Any thing like this is SO helpful in our recovery. If we sit in our own head, then this can be a big red flag. Triggers can come in at any time if we stay idle. Very happy for you and I wish you the best!
