So I go to Camh which is a local government agency that is supposed to deal with addiction I go to the first meeting then a private interview I am told to follow up with addictive medacines who gave me the run around for three days and finally today told me unless I want to go into a ten day detox with them I should go to my doctor to do a taper.....since I started going there just by reading on here I have tapered myself relatively comfortably from about 320 milligrams of OC a day to about and six to eight percs to today where I have had 60 mils of OC.  It amazes me that an internet forum is able to give me more information and support then the bloody doctors who got me into this mess thank you to all of you who post and respond you guys are all I have right now.

I have been doing this for 48 days now.. I have been to the doctors office about 12 times.. been to the Government ************** people.. and I can honestly tell you that they are a frustrating bunch of people..

The best help I have received is from this forum and NA meetings..

Addicts helping Addicts is the best form of therapy I have found. The greatest frustration fro me with non-addict doctors and therapists is that they don't get it, and you cant explain it to them..

I have told my GP this 3 times and he agreed the last time.. Its like trying to describe the color blue to a blind person.. they just cannot understand..

The medical community is needed for drugs.. otherwise, the best help is at Narcotic anonymous and online..

It's awesome that you've managed to get down so low! way to go!! Keep going as your going and soon you'll be off the D*mned things for good!

Too many doctors hand out meds like candy OR they won't treat a person with legitimate pain problems properly.... It seems like they are on one end of the spectrum or the other and very few are in between who do things as they should be done.

It is sad that most Dr's couldn't care less what happens to us. Just because we are addicts does not make us bad people! Yeah we might have made a bad choice but my gosh we are human and we will always make mistakes! Congrats on getting down to a lower dose! You are on the right track! I wish you all the best! I am 28 days clean today!!!!
