Oh I know Shannon...right now my lower back is killing me.....but I know I even pull up on my shoulders and I always tense up when I am cold...makes sense y I hurt when I am cold,,,huh?

Ha that would be fun! Oh, and selma i think your leg probably is from holding yourself a certain way. Also, you've compensated for so long whether you realize it or not.
...there r many that have hundreds of symptoms...but even a chiari specialist only look at certain ones.....hence the smaller list in the Health Pages....I got it from Chiari specialists....but , we all know it is not a complete list.....or accurate.....we should do teh chiarian's list of symptoms and look at the diff....lol....

That is the best thing about this forum......we know we r not alone in how we feel as well as our condition.....and what gets me is soooooooooo much of what we do have in common r not recognized symptoms....funny huh>?
Tell me about it...still is so much better than not being like anyone at all!! I am constantly amazed as more people come on here..how more and more of what I experienced is happening in someone else.

Funny...I have weird bumps on my shin...they go all the way done the tibia (sort of beside it)..I've wondered about that for awhile. I get pain down it while walking and at rest, sort of comes and goes but it's a sharp shooting pain. I have to say that I do experience most of my muscle pain right after I sit down...it just throbs and aches.
That is exactly what I was doing and still do, I am always holding my muscles tight when walking b/c my joints are too unstable that w/o thinking I know that they are not able to bear the weight. Plus, my legs muscles are weak especially around the joints so I try and make up for it with the ones that are strong (I am very off balanced). I bet you are probably doing the same thing w/o even realizing it!! I believe for a long time that I was slowly changing how I was walking to subconciously accomodate what was going on with my body. Now that it the hardest thing for me now..is trying to retrain myself to use my muscles properly...and it is not easy!! My PT told me for now..just to try to strengthen the weak muscles and then the rest will follow.
If you are doing this...then you most likely are feeling the pain in relaxing..like I said the first 10 mins that I sit down are the worst especially if I have been on my feet for a while. Still curious that there is this EDS link....I really hope I get to see a rheumatologist...I think I am going to pretty much insist on it once the blood work comes back (despite what it says).

I figured everybody knows their shoe size but who knows what size their head or hand is?! I dont know what he's looking for either but its interesting.
And yes he's great. I like him a lot! He even took the time to explain things in terms my husband could relate to!
but you forgot something!!! he also measured your head and your hand! he is not interested in foot size alone. but i still have no clue what he's trying to prove either! lol he's great though, isn't he?
Carolyn...my latest is the shin split pain I get in my right shin while lying down or sitting....it is very odd.....but really hurts.....if it was shin splints my DD told me I would feel weird bumps on the shin and the pain would be while walking and putting weight on it...but it is fine then...only when I am relaxing.......
So, I was talking with another member with EDS and she was saying that she tends to hold her muscles tight when walking....so I wonder if I may be doing this and the pain in relaxing is a result?? Ne thoughts?

That was the first thing I noticed with my leg problems too! I had very, very weak feet..I could only bear to stand on them for short periods and when cooking or something I would have to constantly shift back and forth on my legs so I could bear to stand. Even way before that...before I knew of any problems...I remember being at the gym and doing exercises that required me to stand for a long period of time on one leg and my left foot would go into excruciating spasms and I would have to stop. I just thought it was due to my bad balance, which has always been an issue!!
Like you Selma, my left ankle would start to hurt, swell, and lock up making it so I had very little range of motion in the foot. I just put it down to being a runner...at that time I had upped my runs to 4x's a week and thought the ankle was just taking the toll. I also noticed after runs that some of my leg muscles refused to stretch out and just hurt..and still I shrugged it off (the anxiety right?)
Unfortunately, as I continue to heal...the ankle and feet have come up to the top of my list as things that are not getting better...which is why I am exploring other possible causes....

yeah, in fact the one thing that I go back to that got me to go back to a dr is my feet.....I was going to swing dance lessons every Tuesday and was on the board of directors for the group and it was getting harder and harder bcuz my feet hurt so bad.
The balls of my feet and I tried everything, diff shoes, padding, even gel pads for toe shoes, my DD being a dancer they have some pretty good pads for those shoes, well in a weeks time this hard bump on the ball of my foot rubbed a hole into the pad, so I went to DD's foot dr and was told tarsel tunnel and had surgery in 2000......during PT for it they found another injury...which, I was told could not be touched for 2 yrs to allow the nerves to heal, this is when I started using a cane, as what ever the issue was , my ankle would lock up and hurt and I was losing my balance.When I went back to the dr they said they would have to cut the bone to get at the problem and put screws and bolts to put it back together....so instead, I had to wear a brace on my leg while at work....so, the muscles in that leg atrophied...and I need to get a job sitting down, I had aqua PT to build the muscles back up and took a job with my company sitting down, not that it was all sitting....but all this goings on for my piggies....lol.....ne one else go thru something like this bcuz of foot pain?.....oh BTW I had my ankle fixed without bolts and screws in '07......thanks God over that time they perfected orthoscopic procedures for th ankle : )
You know what I find interesting...is that most of us have foot problems..hmmm
Shannon by our very nature one side is different or larger than the other...we r asymmetrical.....even tho we look symmetrical...so the foot size is a "normal" thing......
Ok, what i have gotten out of this is not the size but that almost all of us have wide feet and one foot is slightly larger than the other. It is interesting though
i wear womens size9w, mens size 7.5, but i also have feet problems
i have heel spurs, bunion, and i have had a tendon repair-- surgery on all, mostly Ok except L ankle,tendon issue still bad
One is a 7, the other is a 5.5....yep, two different size feet.
I do prefer a wide with as well....but if I go to a larger size they tend to fall off my feet.....lol.....one reason I love my EMU boots (similar to UGG) they r wide and soft and warm : )
I go from 71/2 to 8 depending on the shoe. Most of the time I go for the bigger size b/c when my feet swell (which the often do) my shoes get too tight. I too need wide shoes pretty much for the same reasons and a lot of time I have to untie them or they start to cut off my circulation and make my feet go numb.

Actually, I do want to say, I go between 6.5 and 8, depend on shoe. Sounds crazy, and I thought it was nuts, until I realized that some shoes are a 6.5 comfortably as long as they are a WW.
7.5 WW, but one is just bigger than the other. Having one of those days, can't even remember which one and feet are so swollen can't tell.
size 7......have been for soooo many yrs.....but I do/did have tons of foot problems/issues.
