music

Just curious, and since virtually everyone loves music, what is you're fav. Music genre? Fav bands? Fav songs?

I personally love heavy metal, love bands like Slipknot, Mudvayne, Pantera, Lamb of God..etc.
However I love classic rock, Queen, Bad co. Kansas, etc.

I'm also in love with Amy Lee (from Evanescence) voice. Love that band.. yes, I have a soft side lol.

I am so sorry, ur parents missed out...that is all I can say there.

My DD and all she did was the center of my world and still is...I only have one child and that may be y, but I also did not want my DD to be a typical teenager that dislikes her mom...so I worked very hard to keep her close.

We love many of the same things, going to Broadway shows,Ballets, and yes, I would love an Opera as well....

We quote lines from movies, many r old ones...some r not so old but classic  in their own right...so a love of the arts.

I also adore Audrey Hepburn Breakfast at Tiffany's was a great movie....

The 50's is deff a period in time I wish I had lived thru as it seems familiar, u know..lol...and I also love the 30's and 40's too, the style of clothes....

As I said my DD has the same taste as I do and this is y she asked me to make her head piece and veil for her wedding, to get just  the right look....
it was not something we could find....

My parents were never supportive of anything I did. I paid for cheer camp, ballet, my basketball uniform, cross country uniform... they never went to any of my games or to watch me dance. I also, and not very many people know this about me, I have a HUGE appreciation for Opera music... it gets to me emotionally.. I love love love Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Bette Page, Lucille Ball.. I think I would have loved to have live in the 50s.

P.s. SelmaS, I have all of the Pink Floyd albums and am listening to Comfortably numb.. very fitting! My DB and I collect CDs and we have a little over 1000. Lol.

I loved going to watch my DD dance...not just bcuz it was my DD but bcuz it was just so beautiful....I have an appreciation for it and other styles of dance, and also took classes...but, chiari got the better of me, I could not go to my swing dance class.....

and ballet is the best thing we could do with chiari as it helps with balance and posture all  things we do need to be mindful of.

I did ballet for a short time, I just told DB (dear boyfriend, lol) that I wanted to do ballet again if I ever felt better. Ballet is so elegant, graceful, beautiful. I have always been drawn to ballet dancers. The instructor said I was a natural.. I did cheerleading freshman year but the other girls were mindless idiots so I quit! Lol.

Love ur Gma story...my DD is a dancer so that is a nice connection and my Gma played piano for her DH's movie theater...it was Silent movies back then...so that is exciting....only thing is they split up and I never met him.

On my mom's side her dad played violin and I also took lessons and  also took guitar lessons as well, I can play piano  by ear....lol...so music has always played a major role in my life....and again with DD being a dancer, u can not dance with out ur music...lol...she also took piano lessons and has a well rounded appreciation of all types of music.

Thanks for sharing... my gma was a HUGE Elvis Presley and Dolly Parton fan. She was also a huge baseball fan, loved Seattle Mariners and there was a special day called Jay Behner day.. if you shaved off your hair, you'd get a free ticket to the game... Haha, oh... my gma had clippers in hand ready to go to town.. my dad had to stop her and bought her ticket... haha she was a ham, and her laugh.. u would never hear one like it.. it was contagious!! She laughed and loved and was a good hearted woman until the day she died. I still have her toe shoes she wore for ballet and I used them for flowers.. roses specifically, as they were her favorite.
She really was like a second momma to me. I am the woman I am today because of my me-ma....
