I'm having problems...

I want to know how to make my nightmares go away? I am 16 years old. Turning 17 soon. I should be too old for nightmares shouldnt I be? Well anyways I was walking to school one day and out of nowhere I started zoning out and seeing pictures flash before my eyes. Like I see things that I've never seen before. There was this one image of me standing on a cliff; crying and yelling out strange words. Then in the daymare. My current boyfriend said, "that's right....do it and jump already." Than he pushed me off the cliff and before I hit the water I seen I was on the ground with one of my close friends standing over me asking me if I was okay. And I sat there wondering what just happened. I really want to talk about this with someone but it is too hard for me. I am in foster care and I've been in foster care since birth. I was unwanted by my mother for her problems; and I was disowned by my father because I was a mistake... I feel insane and I feel in the need for someone to talk to and it can't be my foster parents because I hardly know them. I don't know what to do anymore...

You sound like a very strong and brave young lady.  You've been through a lot for the tender age of 16/17.  Do you have an advocate in the system?  I'd perhaps contact the agency and ask about having one  if you do not or contact them if you do.   These are adults that are there to be of help to you.  Under your benefits, are you able to go to a doctor?  It would be good to discuss this with a physician.  Post traumatic stress disorder can happen and we may not even know why.  And brain chemistry can play all kinds of tricks on us.  When you feel "insane" and our daytime daydreaming is centered on things like jumping off a cliff-------  it would be good to make sure we are taken care of emotionally.  I think that your school counselor may also be of assistance. You've got good friends it sounds and a boyfriend.  That is helpful for support but I want to make sure more isn't going on.   Depression can make life even harder than it already is.  Let me know if you have any avenues to seek a physicians consult and we'll go from there.  Hang in there. You must be afraid to close your eyes at times!  Peace.

Firstly I want to let you know that you are not alone; though physically you may presently be alone, that does not mean that emotionally and etc you are alone; there are many out there with similar difficulties. If you are still on this forum, please comment me back so I may further relate my answer. Even though things are not all right at this very moment, they will be eventually; every problem has a solution.
