Pulsatile tinnitus

Hi,  i can hear a sound in my right ear that beats in time with my pulse.  i hear it only when i am in a quite room particularly in bed.

I had an mri done and the doctor said it was nothing to worry about.  I had a hearing test done and it was all okay.  I am concerned that it could be something serious and it worries me.  I noticed that if I plug my ear fully the noise receeds.  Can anyone give me an indication of what this could be, if anything just to ease my worries.  thanks.

PS i had a small  perferation in my ear drum 5 years ago but no tinnitus until 18 months back.

Hi;

   Sometimes the cochlear artery lies closer to the cochlea than in other people. Nothing can be done that case.

I have the same problem.  I had a CT Arteriogram done and they found that I have a hole in the semicircular canal in my inner ear.  They also found that my jugular vein rides up too high, so I can hear it more.  From what my doctors told me is that this is pretty rare and there isn't a lot of treatment options.  Let me know what you find out.
