The most relevant question: Is minimizing her dependence on glasses a high priority for your mother? (I'm assuming that she does not have significant astigmatism.)
It is hard to tell from such a brief description. Hopefully you can trust your eye surgeon, and please get a second or third opinion if you have any doubts or questions.
In general (not specifically for your mother), Crystalens HD is not a bad choice. Be sure to clarify whether the doctor is proposing the newer HD model or an older Crystalens model. It is more expensive than a monofocal lens, but offers some benefits, and a few extra risks.
Issues to discuss with her doctor would include: Has she worn glasses for distance, or reading? Does she mind wearing glasses? Would vision without glasses at more distances be worth thousands of dollars? How disappointed would she be if she still ended up needing glasses?
Also, how many Crystalens lenses has the doctor inserted? How many of the newer/better Crystlens HD's. What other kinds of IOL's has the doctor worked with, and for how many years?
Good luck to you both.
