6 months is the old guidelines. 3 months is when one can obtain a conclusive test result.
Thanks nursegirl. It sounded like she was reading from a script. She said 97% of people will seroconvert within 3 months and she said just to be sure I should re test at 6 months. I am also confused because she said sharing a sex toy with someone can transmit the virus if no condome is used.
I think whoever you spoke to needs re-educated, as they are giving you conflicting info even against their OWN guidelines of 3 months post "exposure" being conclusive!
Kissing is not a risk. Do some searching in the expert forum here and see what the docs have to say...I think that will ease your mind.
I just got off the CDC hotline and they said that deep kissing for a prolonged period can be a possible risk. they also advised re testing at 6 months. Why is there such a conflict of information?
One thing the people also seem to forget is that the virus has to contend with 2 hostile saliva filled mouths, it just won't happen it would be like a human trying to jump from one molten lava pit into another! Don't be anxious and get out there a live your life!
Because I KNOW that kissing is not a risk. Not only would the "infectious" fluid (ie blood) be outside of the host (rendered inactive), but also saliva has a lot of enzymes in it that actually inhibit the virus as well.
NOT a risk.
NO! HIV cannot be transmitted via kissing, even WITH bleeding gums, canker sores, etc etc.
NOT a risk...no if's ands or buts!
