My frnd having hbsag positive and liver function test SGPT 80, SGOT 44 and now suggested to DNA test. Its anything serious please explain me

so you still need:
hbsag quant (test with diluition to obtein exact quantity, not >250iu/ml)

hbcab igm (to know if cronic or acute)

fibroscan, to know if liver damage is present or not

i think they didn t make diluition to detect the quantity but only reported >250iu/ml, without diluition test is useless we need the quantity

tell them they didn t make dilution and they have to remake the test diluited, it is their mistake (they are very lazy at the lab...)

did you get hbcab igm result?

dont owrry too much about cronic or acute, most indian s have hbv and most are perfectly healthy, once you know you have hbv you can stop it any time it makes damage

at 25yo it is extremely rare to have liver damage or virus making damage but just to be 100% aware of status make fibroscan reading and never accept to start antivirals unless you have cirrhosis or advanced liver damage, at your age it is better to try interferon and alinia and see if virus can be cleared

if hbcab igm is negative he is cronic, this test is very easy and fast, test it asap

in case hbcab igm is negative check liver damage by fibroscan

get hbsag quantity test. So You can get an idea about clearing virus.
Hbvdna has no meaning interms of clearing the virus.
And try to get a liver fibroscan. You should take antivirals, only if you have liver damage or if your age is above 40 or 45 years. Take care..

i donate the blood they said u having hepatitis b(sero positive for hbsag,anti HBC and sero negative for anti HBS)after
i met doctor he wrote some test (LFT,virascan,ultra scan)in that reports LFT SGPT 80(H),SGOT 44(H) ,bilirubin(indirect)_serum 0.8(H)
and
in serum HBs Antigen --detected
              anti HIV anti bodies---non reactive
             anti HCV antibody--non rective
and    ultrasound reports are
         liver,Gall blader,spleen,pancreas,kidnies,urinary bladder,prostate are normal
IMPRESSION:NO OBVIOUS ABNORMALITY DETECTED

I SHOW THIS REPORTS TO MY DOCTOR HE SAID UR VIRUS IN ACTIVE U ARE IN CHRONICAL STAGE

he wrote some more tests >HBeAG
                                        >ANTI HBE
                                        >HBsAG QUANTIFICATION
                                        >HBV DNA QUANTIFICATION
my test results are         anti-hbe=1. s/co
                            Hbeag=0.69s/co
                            hbv dna=2290 HBV DNA COPIES/ML

alt and ast have very poor meaning, they can even be abnormal but no liver damage or the contrary
there are hundereds of conditions that rise ast/alt, the most common today are being over weight or over size weist and fatty liver, too many fat and meat in diet, high chol

add also a ultrasound check to see if you have fatty liver

if you want to know if is acute or chronic you have to look to hbcab igm (if i remember correct chronic means that hbcab igm are negative)
If the chronic situation is confirmed you have to look on the tests that vijik,stef2011 indicated you already (hbsag quantity, fibroscan and also dna test)

dna test ll tell you the virus replication. But like stef said hbsag quantity, liver fibroscan are most important. Your doctor probably doesnt know/tell about these tests.
