Really to sorry to hear the meds failed your husband. I remember reading his story when I first rejoined the forum back in Dec. He's had a tough journey but discovering his HCV gives him the upper-hand in the big fight. As others have posted, help (new drugs) is on the way!
Sorry to hear this. with a viral load of over one million don't get your hopes up that the teat was wrong. Many people with a high BMI have cured this it is just a factor they list along with many other things. My guess is it's just Interferon is not his friend. Just don't give up hope as these new treatments are having great results and are without Interferon. Hang in there.
Hi all, okay, so I am back to deep diving into this. Maybe our hell will help someone else! I do also recall from some posts or maybe it was a clinical trial cut off for weight, 165 pounds. Trust me, I will find that and let you all know. My husband I'd 5'8" and 216 pounds. As far as compliance to his meds, he took his Sovaldi and the 1200mg of RBV, everyday exactly 12 hours apart, never missing a dose and exactly on time. I was the compliance police. He got his shot every Friday exactly at 6:30 pm each week and I administered the shot. He did everything as prescribed. I am going to ask his doctor today for a retest and also to do a CBC and Chem screen just to see where that is at now. I have all of his bloodwork in a file here at home, because each week if would do a compare and if I felt uncomfortable, I would ask questions. Thank you all again. If anyone comes across that list of cure versus less chance of cure before I do, please let me know. Hugs....
I am really sorry to hear this. For both of you. Just based on your posts I know you really exerted a lot of time and energy to learn all you can in a short period of time. I can just imagine how incredibly disappointed you must be. Lots of us on here have treated more than once and I can imagine how drained your hubby must be for all this.
Not sure how soon the next available regimen of meds will be available for Geno 1s but hang in there and keep current on developments and (possibly??) trials.
Take care and keep us informed♥
I am so sorry to hear this. It is sad and also a fear most of us have I think.
Riba is weight based so not sure that is a major factor
I have forgotten (who has ever treated w INF and has any kind of memory?), if I ever knew what your husband's Gt is.
I ask because there are studies going on w/Led right now by Gilead, which are really emphasizing Gt 1s and 2 s.
Also Bristol MeyersSquibb are studying Dac - I am not sure but that may be w/Gt 3 s.
These are both very close to being marketed, so keep the faith! Tell your Hubby I am praying for both of you. SVR is in all our futures, it may just take a little longer than we thought! Pat
