are referring to your first shot of peg and riba ? For mine they had me practice on a rubber thing then I did myself with the nurse watching me. It was not a big deal. She explained and then I did it.
My class was wathing a DVD about giving shots. The rep talked to everyone abot all the sx. About drinking lots of water. mostly the things you have probally read. They sent hope a bag with some stuff in it. Lots of pamplets, a syringe disposable box-you get another bigger one when the meds arrive. You also get a first aid kit and a preganacy test. You also get to keep the DVD. I live in Tn, there were about 3 classes a month. To me it was really a waist of time
My nurse explained how to work the pen and then watched me set the pen and give myself the first shot. She'll show you where to give it and tell you to rotate the shot site every week. She also recommended when to take Tylenol (after I got home) and how much I could take (2 extra strengths twice a day). Shot did not hurt, I ended up not needing the tylenol, though I took it for the first 3 shots anyway.
The next week, when I gave myself the first shot at home, the first pen jammed but the second one was fine. Another new patient had the same issue. I never had another one jam throughout TX, burt they always sent me home with at least one extra just in case it happened again.
with me it was the nurse and me gave a booklet(informational) what to expect during tx. the pegaferion, rivofer. and with that dvd and a carrier bag to transport from the pharm. to home and syringes and a dispencer for your needles and then i gave myself the shot in the stomach no big deal but yes do tylenol or ibprofer. before the shot i least suggest it will be great best of luck to you!!! rockin516
