High risk activity

On Monday of this week I had a group sexual experience with two transsexuals and two bisexual males. None had visible herpes outbreaks, and *unprotected* oral sex and *protected* intercourse was given and received by everyone. I realize this is probably a really high-risk activity in terms of herpes (and other STI) transmission, and I'm going to the doctor tomorrow for tests. I'm wondering, specifically for HSV I/II, what is my approximate risk? I'm hypersensitive to any changes in my body, and haven't noticed any symptoms (either facial or genital), but there is some slight discomfort on my penis.

Azithromycin is an antibiotic. It doesn't treat fungal infections.  Taking an antibiotic can kill off your "good" bacteria so that yeast especially can over grow more in the body.    I'm guessing they prescribed the z pack in case you have chlamydia more than anything though that could've been covered with 1 pill.  Not too much else that azithromycin is good for at this point as far as std's or urinary infections.

Grace,

When you say the Z-Pack "adds to fungal over growth," are you suggesting that it would make the problem worse, or that the fact that the Z-Pack was prescribed indicates a fungal infection rather than a bacterial growth? I'm on my third day of the 5-day Z-Pack and today there's been no burning at all and minimal discomfort (I've been too busy at work to notice any, really).

I gave urine and blood last Friday (that would be four days ago), so I expect to be waiting until this Friday to hear back from the doc.

Thanks for everyone's continued responses - they put my mind at ease a little. :)

It's more likely to be a fungal infection due to oral sex then it is bacterial or herpes.  The z pack just adds to fungal over growth. Continue to follow up on this with your provider.  You can get some std's thru unprotected oral sex but the risk is less likely so your provider needs to be checking your urine and looking for yeast too.

It's now 1 full week after unprotected oral sex (giving and receiving) and I have a small, clear discharge from my penis at irregular intervals, a slight burning sensation while urinating, slight irritation around the crown of the penis head, and almost complete redness from mid-shaft through the head of my penis and my penis feels sore. No abnormal feeling in the scrotum, thighs, or buttocks. No visible sores anywhere; only a few small red bumps that I noticed yesterday but seem to have reduced in size today.

How long would it take for HSV1 or HSV2 lesions to appear? I was put on a Z-Pack for swollen lymph nodes in my neck and general fatigue on Sunday, but I've noticed only slight abdominal pain and no swelling of any glands around my groin. Are any of these symptoms indicative of HSV1/2?

If it was protected intercourse then it's not particulary high risk but only you know what took place and whether you think you should be tested for all STD's I think it would be wise to get tested,as HSV1 can be passed to the Genitals via Oral sex if any of these people have it even if they did not have any visible sores at the time ......
