Early potential Oral Herpes symptoms

Hi, A couple days ago I had protected sex with an unknown person that likely has had multiple previous partners. I'm concerned about oral herpes transmission through kissing/saliva contact as in under 6 hours I started to get a tingling sensation on one side of my upper lip. I don't recall any visible sores on the other person, but it was pretty dark. I became concerned at this point and did read that typical onset of symptoms is after 2-3 days. I only slept a couple hours that night and the next day I had a variety of symptoms throughout the day: tingling sensation around the lips, dryness, not a full on sore throat but feeling of lumpiness, an occasional chill and mildly feverish. I was anxious the entire day. I recall having to wipe off some makeup/lipstick from my lips an hour or so after the encounter. So not sure if what I was experiencing was some kind of reaction to that.

How likely are these symptoms Herpes related?

I've had some dermatitis issues and not sure where my overall health is, so was wondering if that could cause this early onset of symptoms?

I am going to see a doctor in a couple days, is it worth getting tested for Herpes at this stage or should I wait longer?

FWIW, on Day 2 thus far I've had milder throat soreness and lip dryness. Thanks!

Your symptoms don't suggest hsv. You are correct 5hat symptoms don't start until at least two days past the exposure. Your odds were very small indeed.
Testing now does absolutely zero good for your resent exposure. However it could tell you that you already have hsv1. A lot of folks have it and don't get cold sores.
Unless you actually get a cold sore I'm not sure what a Dr can do for you at this point.  Do not let them talk you into a igm bloodtest. If they try then they don't know much about hsv testing

I though tingling lips/mouth are common symptoms. I still feel a burning sensation around my mouth at times. Is it just the early onset that rules out a possiblility of hsv?
Classic case of reading hsv symptoms without understanding the context.
Tingling and or "crawling" is a symptom of a pending reoccurring outbreaks. It's the virus crawling along the nerve path back to the surface. A primary or initial outbreak the virus is already at the surface. First thing you would probably notice is leasons.
Thanks.. what would be the best tests to conduct to rule this out?
Don't know what to make of these symptoms as I've never had them. Could these be attributable to any other STI?
Also, should I be checking for lesions in any other area other than the mouth? Thanks...
An igg bloodtest at twelve weeks.  If you get a cold sore you'll know it. No need to inspect your mouth at all. No these symptoms would not be any other std.
Thanks.. is it recommended to avoid physical oral contact with others until test results are back or should this be avoided only if there is an active sore/lesion?
I don't believe you were really at risk for hsv. Keep up the protected sex and that's it.
