Looking For a Second Opinion

Hello All. I am here on this site looking for second opinion or more so a better understanding than I got from my Doctor after my Herpes Test. I decided to go for a test after I noticed something that looked like about 4 hair follicles of mine being a little red and itchy.

My doctor took a swap and I was sent to do a herpes test. Here are the result of the Herpes test:

                                                 Result   Abnormal    Reference Range
HSVII Type Spec IgG                  <0.2                        0.0-0.09 ISR
           HSV II IgG:
              or = 1.1 Positive
HSV I, II IgM
   HSV I    II   IgM Comb                          1.34 A           0.00-0.90 Ratio
                                                Negative 1.09

My Swab Result:
Test: C/S-HVS

WET PREP: Niether T-Vaginalis nor yeast cells seen, many clue cells seen.

GRAM'S: Moderate amounts of sq.epith cells, many clue cells, numerous gram variable bacilli, few gram positive cocci.

CULTURE: Mixed growth of organisms.

The doctor confirmed that I have herpes but didn't indicate which type. She also said the swab result was consistent with the Herpes Test findings.

I have accepted it but still I am looking for some more clarification.

Patiently awaiting some responses.

Thanks

the flagyl is for the bv.

at this point you'll need to follow up on your testing with either a type specific herpes igg blood test again later on, at least 3 months after the last time you had sex prior to your original blood test or wait until you have another ob and be seen for a repeat herpes lesion culture and typing.

did you call your provider back to see if they can call the lab to get your herpes lesion culture typed?

Hello again

Thank you for your responses and suggesions. I checked with my culture and it was not a herpes specific test. It was a swab taken for a slight discharge I was having. The only test that was done for Herpes was the test I posted earlier with the results as seen below.

                                                 Result   Abnormal    Reference Range
HSVII Type Spec IgG                  <0.2                        0.0-0.09 ISR
           HSV II IgG:

HSV I, II IgM
   HSV I    II   IgM Comb                          1.34 A          0.00-0.90 Ratio

The doctor didn't mention anything to me about BV after my results she gave me to purchase two sets of medication flagyle and Acyclovir. Of course I just figured it was just for the Herpes.

Could you interpret what the Herpes Blood test is stating. What does the 0.2 under the results section mean and the 1.34 A under the abnormal category.

Thanks

call your provider and ask if your culture really was + and if it was specifically + for hsv1 or hsv2. If they didn't type your culture, ask them to please call the lab to see if they still have the specimen to type it.  the way you listed the herpes culture isn't the way they report with herpes culture results.

so they never treated you for bv?  your vaginal culture shows that you have it and that needs dealt with too.

Thanks again Grace. I have had only one boyfriend.

My Swab test reads exactly as :

Test: C/S-HVS

WET PREP: Niether T-Vaginalis nor yeast cells seen, many clue cells seen.

GRAM'S: Moderate amounts of sq.epith cells, many clue cells, numerous gram variable bacilli, few gram positive cocci.

CULTURE: Mixed growth of organisms.

I was not told anything about it being HSV1 or HSV2.

The name of the test was Test: C/S-HVS.

I don't see anywhere that the test mentions positive and the doctor didnt particularly point it out. She only said the CULTURE results are consistent with the herpes test.

I think the numbers of the my second and third posting got a little mixed up in the posting. But basically the only variation from my original post were the "scales"

Thanks again

was your culture hsv2 or hsv1+?    I missed that your culture was evidently + when I was reading this originally.

did they also treat you for bv while you were there?

do you have a regular partner?

Hi Grace. I dont know why but some of the information keeps being removed.

I am trying to write it in line format to see what happens but they were originally in categories. In brackets are what the category is. You can still refer to my previous post to understand the category view.

Not sure but perhaps the missing information showed what the scales are:

HSVII Type Spec IgG                  <0.2 (Resluts)                0.0-0.09 ISR (Reference Range)

HSVII Type Spec IgG  or = 1.1 Positive.

HSV I    II   IgM Comb                          1.34 A (Abnormal)          0.00-0.90 Ratio

Negative 1.09 ( All written under the Abnormal Categroty)

Hope this helps and does not confuse more.

Thanks again

                                                  Result   Abnormal    Reference Range
                  <0.2                        0.0-0.09 ISR
           HSV II IgG:
                    < 0.9 Negative

HSV I, II IgM
   HSV I    II   IgM Comb                          1.34 A           0.00-0.90 Ratio

Hi Grace

Thank you very much for your prompt response and like for so many others giving me some hope. I do want to mention however that I missed out some details which seem to have disappeared somehow. I am not sure how relavant that they may be so I am making the corrections and awaiting your review again.

                                                  Result   Abnormal    Reference Range
HSVII Type Spec IgG                  <0.2                        0.0-0.09 ISR
           HSV II IgG:
                     or = 1.1 Positive
HSV I, II IgM
   HSV I    II   IgM Comb                          1.34 A           0.00-0.90 Ratio
                                                Negative 1.09

This is exactly what it look like. I would also just like to know why the doctor would interpret this as I have have herpes which I may have aquired recently according to her and that you are saying that absolutely nothing I posted earlier indicates what the doctor said to be correct.

Thank your again.
