Irritation or Herpes?

I'll try to be concise:

About 2 weeks ago (Day 1) on a Sunday, I masterbated and ejaculated in the shower and made the big mistake of using a scented body wash as a lubricant.  After words I was in intense pain, but the pain subsided and by the next morning I had thought little about it.

Day 4: I was urinating and was in a hurry, so I pushed my stream out faster and experienced pain for a moment similar to that in the shower.  The pain again went away and later that night I masterbated again (not in the shower and NOT with body wash), but using a clothe I had used previously (I've done this countless times before without ill effect). I ejactulated without pain and went to bed.

Day 5: went to work and as the day progressed, I started to experience similar and increasing pain and lower groin discomfort.  By nightfall, I pain was bad enough to keep me from falling asleep.  There were no marking on or around my penis or mid-section.  No rash or reddening that I could see abnormally. I felt fine otherwise -- no headache, to fever, no nausea.

Days 6,7: the weekend was pain pills and coping, and as the end of the weekend I had noticed the pain subsiding.

Day 8: in a test to see if the healing was complete, I once again pushed my urine stream to see if I could mimick the pain from the earlier week and, sure enough, it stung.  I was in pain for hours afterwards, and it prompted me to purchase some UTI testing kits.  Tested for Nitrates and Leukelytes 4 times since...all negative.

Days 9-15:  as the following week progressed, I noticed a lessening of my penis pain.  By the time day 14 rolled around I was convinced I had cleared a hurdle.  Day 15 (yesterday) I had a doctors visit to check on a possible hernia issue, and psoke to him briefly about the body wash and pain.  He said I was simply irritated, and why not I believed him because at the time I felt pretty pain free (and the possible hernia was simply a groin pull).  Later that day, however, I started to feel pain again -- this time it seemed to be originating from the outside of my penis hear near the urethra while I walked.  A had been wearing boxers to limit to rubbing on my penis (as it had been pretty sensitive thoughout this experience), and the penis tip rubbing on the bower seemed to irritate things.  I inspected the tip and noticed a thin ridge, almost parrallel and equal in length and right next to the meatus that seemed to rise up and become red and sensitive.  First time I have spotted physical evidence of any kind, albeit small.  It has been irrating, on and off, mild and not so mild, ever since.

Now for the herpes question: my wife was diagnosed with genital herpes before we even married.  That was over a decade ago.  I have never experienced symptoms of a herpes outbreak before, and the last time we had sex was a week prior to the shower incident (almost 2 weeks prior to experincing consistant pain).  As I mentioned, I have not have any blisters, rashes, haven't felt ill throughout this experience.  The ridge that just appeared on the tip of my penis is not indicitive of typical herpes symptoms.  I'd like a professional opinion as to it not being herpes, and would like to know if I just need to be patient and let the irritation take it's course and heal.  Thanks.

the older we get, the more delicate our skin gets in general - regardless of the body part.  what your body could tolerate in the past, it will get more cantankerous about in the future.

nothing about this sounds herpes related.

No, I have not yet been tested for the herpes virus.  Maybe in light of this I could find out. And your advice to be kind is warranted; he's pissed (no pun intended). I just never had this much trouble before (although the body wash thing was, admittingly, just a total lapse of reasoning).
So, evaluating all I wrote, you do in fact believe it is just irritation? I haven't touched anything in nearly 2 weeks to help things along, I'm getting on with my life as best I can...I just want some reassurance there's something at the end of the rainbow for my patience.

these do not sound herpes related at all.

be kind to the lil guy! use a good sex lube for masturbation!!  no more shower gels or soaps. no body lotions. lube him up before using a cloth too.

have you ever been tested for herpes to know your own status just so you know?
