Disregard the IgM test as it's pretty much worthless for herpes testing. IgG is the one to go by.
It could easily be MC by the description, and the incubation time - did the doc test for that as well? You know you tested negative for herpes, and the symptoms showed up well past the typical timeframe of 2-20 days post-encounter.
Your HSV1 positive status, even in the absence of symptoms, is most likely oral.
Hey
thanks for the reply. After looking at it the doc did put MC on the top of the list. The only thing is that the bump healed too soon for a typical MC.
I did treat it with Iodine cause I read that, that could make a MC lesion heal faster.
He didn't test for MC tough.
He did tell me that with the IgM and IGG tests we have now it's 50/50 for herpes
mc isn't going to go away on its own in 3 days though.
there isn't a test for molluscum. it's a visual diagnosis for the most part. You can biopsy it and send it to the pathology lab but most providers don't.
odds are this wasn't std related at all.
the igm herpes test is falsely + 1/3 of the time. we don't recommend them being used to diagnose herpes infections in adults. A + igm is actually meaningless when it comes to herpes testing.
