Cystitis like burning but with light bleeding from urethra.

I am an 18 year old female and have had several urinary tract infections and three kidney infections. I also regularly suffer from cystitis. Today i found passing urine painful, and immediately thought it was just another episode of cystisis. However i found that when i wiped a small amount of blood stained my tissue paper pink. The blood is coming from my urethra and is very minimal, but the burning sensation from my urethra is like that of fairly severe cystitis. I have also developed lower back pain. I have no symptoms of an infection and it has developed very quickly. I am concerned as i have had many problems with my kidneys and urinary tract and was wondering if i was passing a kidney stone.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

The common causes for painless bleeding in the urine are infections of the kidney/bladder, disorders of the kidney/bladder, certain blood disorders, strenuous exercise and certain medications. It could be due to cystitis. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance.

In the meantime for relief from pain apply heated pads, drink plenty of oral fluids and take frequent sitz baths for 15-20 mins. Prevention of episodes is by urinating frequently, practicing good hygiene after each bowel movement, taking showers instead of bath tubs and urinating immediately after intercourse. Practice these life style changes they will help in the long run.

Having the same problem with symptoms.. urgency, frequent urination, pushing sensation and pelvic pain.. now I see pink on the toilet paper when I wipe this area.  I have a prescription with re-fills from my doctor but will only take if absolutely necessary. In the past year, I've had at least 6 episodes.. I try to do preventative things like drinking lots of filtered water, pure-organic cranberry juice and UTI drops from the health food store that cost about $50. It all helps but it can suddenly turn and then I have to resort to the short-course antibiotics.  I'm worried about the blood.  It's not much, and it disappears as suddenly as it shows up.  There is great discomfort and the frequency is disturbing. My doctor says he has patients with much worse symptoms, so I'm lucky.. great answer, right?  He seems to think this is very normal.  If this persists beyond the prescription and I continue to see this blood, I am going to insist on seeing an Urologist. When I suggested this, my doctor wasn't receptive to the idea.. says they'd just do a scope and end up giving me a prescription because there's nothing they can do.  Very, very frustrated and concerned.. should I be?

After a few hours of painful urinating all symptoms cleared up and bleeding stopped, it seems i have "grainy" kidneys and i most likely did pass some small stones. Im now going to book an appointment with the doctor for a referal to a specialist as i seem to be having quite a few problems with my kidneys, especially for my age.

thats exactly what i was about to say, perhaps a stone being passed, ie cystitis would cause blood IN the urine but to actually bleed from the urthera, given the pain and lack of infection symptoms, sounds like passing a stone. how is the actual stream??? lower back sounds more like that than it oes the kidneys as the pain is generally closer to waist height and more toward the sides (ie just under the rib cage at back
