testosterone and blood pressure
I have started trt (testosterone replacement therapy). Have noticed zero results yet except for a rise in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure readings. I have cleared taking trt with my cardiologist and my pcp is administering injections every two weeks. Has anyone else had a rise in BP with testosterone? Im 36 and in decent shape, BMI is 33 and am taking BP meds. Looking for feedback or personal experiences. Thank you.
Testosterone causes an increase in the number of red blood cells, which alters the viscosity of the blood. The increased number of red blood cells causes the pressure to rise. It is advisable to have a hematocrit taken before starting testosterone treatments and every six months therafter. In some cases a blood donation is suggested every so often to bring the count down.

my doc only did before blood work and not after blood work. i am going to see him this week an or discontinue treatment. having palpitations too.
