I would recommend you also do the free metabolic typing offered at Dr,
Mercola's website. In the past it was a  service he charged for.

Hmm, Hippocrates — 'Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.'

Almost half of my "100 steps to a healthier body", are based on optimizing nutrition and food intake.

Your family sounds like my doctor (on paper only,lol!-as he NEVER sees me but still makes money for having me on his patient list !)
I ask him questions outside his office-I know him on a personal basis-
and he usually gives me such answers, which make me wonder...

Blessings!
Niko

So carbs are not the enemy as long as they're consumed wisely right ?
It's good to hear people talking real facts based on science and logic
Most of people i know even from my family keep saying that diets won't help just eat whatever u want and workout and they be like "keep dreaming" "proteins are dangerous" they even mok me -.- so ... Reading  these informations from you guys assures me and encourages me :)
Blessed .

No roids for me ever, that's for sure!
I workout about 1.50-2,00 hours daily with very light weekends.

Yes, complex carbs are in ,like in nuts, seeds, legumes and whole grains, if well tolerated, but in moderation. Quinoa is great too and it's also packed with protein.
I favor organic stuff, so this keeps genetically modified-hopefully-out of my body.

As for shakes,  I agree, excessive sugar is an issue and artificial sugar is a NO-NO! I need about 3,500-4000 calories a day, so I take one shake every day
I do juicing with beets, celery, carrots, pineapple and mix in in some UNDENATURED whey protein isolate powder, a great precursor to glutathion-the MASTER antioxidant!. That's my typical shake.
Sometimes I'll use some natural yogurt in my shakes.
Easiest thing to make at home!

Cheers,
Niko

And also, most of the people, male or female, you will see that are really bulked up are either working out several hours a day, have a lot of natural testosterone, or are taking steroids.

Shakes are really just a dessert, let's face it, unless you make ones that don't taste that great, in which case you're just juicing.  Which is much better.  They can be helpful for those who do intensive weight training, and they won't hurt you all that much as long as you avoid too much sugar.  I also want to point out something that is so often misstated these days, which is carbs -- vegetables are carbs, folks.  Brown rice is a carb.  Quinoa is a carb.  Or mostly, because grains and seeds also contain protein.  Beans are a great source of protein, but also contain fiber and other carbs.  So carbs aren't the enemy, simple carbs are, when you're trying to lose weight.  Most of our diets are going to be carbs unless we forgo antioxidants or go overboard on protein -- not all of us are suited to eat like an Inuit.  And we live longer because we have carbs.  What they're really telling you to avoid are simple carbs, such as sugar, white flour, and the like, not carbs.  Carbs are great.  Protein is great.  Fiber is great.  It's all great as long as the proportions are great and the sources great.

No risk in shakes, as long as you're OK with the ingredients.
Remember, liquid calories can be dangerous, as you can consume them faster and easier, so make sure you you don't overdo it!
I would do a small shake as a snack-make sure not much sugar content- and a larger one as meal replacement.
I take shakes with UNDENATURED whey protein isolate powder, but again I train hard!! ( No blender, no heat can be used with this type, but it's the best for your health, if you wan to look it up and it's costly!)

Don't make your goals unrealistic. Easy does it!
If you take a year to lose 20 lbs of fat and add 10 lbs of muscle weight,
you'll look like a swim-suit model!
Make sure you send me before and after pix, lol!
In all seriousness, you sound like a perfect client to succeed.

You know, a number of years back, when I decided to quit smoking , I had to replace it with something better , right?
So I got into fitness training, put posters of Mr Olympia  everywhere in my basement gym and did about 10 hours weight training a week, and another 5 hours aerobic and cardio.
Well after a year of this(along with optimized nutrition) I looked like the guys in Muscle magazine.
But the nicest aspect of this is that I felt GREAT!
And I kept it up.

Post in the stress forum if you want, or message me with more details and I can give you lots of suggestions!
And you're welcome.!

Best,
Niko

Hey Susielace.

Top 10 points to feel and look good.

1. Decrease carbs and increase vegetable consumption.
2. Implement some sustained activity every single day! No time? Make time!
3. Weight bearing exercise will not bulk you up unless you're doing 150 Lbs
deadlifts, lol! Moderate weights will help you tone fast. 3 x weekly.
4. Aerobic, cardio, walking, jogging, cycling, hiking 4-5 x weekly
5. Drink plenty of spring water 1 hour away from meals
6. Think thinner, visualize your ideal body, meditate on this, hypnotize your self, live and breathe this, until you become IT!
7. Relax, take life easy, do less- not more and don't stress! Stress is held
for your protection in fat, which is the most difficult fat to shed.
8. Use coconut oil for cooking, it is not stored as fat-it gets metabolized
fast by the liver for energy making it a perfect replacement for carbs,
AND it does not add to inflammation, when heated, unlike cooking oils
and it has amazing medicinal properties at 1 less calorie per gram compared to other fats!
9. Avoid fast food, anything diet (you gain more weight on diet drinks and foods!!!), anything low fat, anything artificial, overly processed, etc.
10.  Look into Chakra healing, EFT etc, to work out mental and emotional imbalances, which may be slowing  down your progress.

You don't need to apologize. Your post was precise and to the point.

If you have any questions, let me know.

I'm very resourceful and I'm also putting a workshop in the fall called:
"Beyond diets and weight loss. 100 steps to a healthier body."

Hey, perhaps, after I'm done with the workshop, I can put this on Medhelp,
on a user group. That's an idea!

Cheers!
