I used to skip breakfast, just have two cups of coffee. On weekends I'd have several cups of coffee. At lunch I'd have a candy bar or two if anything. At dinner I'd pig out by packing my plate with everything and then have seconds. I probably could have survived with no trouble, however I also pigged out on ice cream simply because I was still hungry and I believe it was the ice cream that gave me my heart attack.
Thanks to Oboma's job creation bills I have no job and don't believe any will be availible for another two+ years. In the mean time I have plenty of time to eat a bowl of cereal and at the end of the day my dinner plate is half full and no need for desert, simply because of breakfast.
Some people are just two meals a day people - I am, my Dad was. But that first meal is nice to have not too long after getting up so you keep your blood sugar level. Coffee alone is not a good choice; it's extremely acidic and artificially pumps up your energy level, which has to level out when it wears off, whereas complex carbs and protein provide lasting energy. If you want to just have something light to eat, therese's idea is great -- won't make you too full, give you some protein and some fiber, and the cultures in the yogurt will get your digestive tract off to a nice start unless the dairy gives you problems. Usually, yogurt is okay because of the cultures. Japanese like to start their day with a light breakfast of miso soup, which also supplies digestive cultures, and some rice with maybe a little dried fish. Same concept -- just a little something to keep the blood sugar level, but not necessarily a huge American breakfast if that doesn't appeal to you.
Try a smoothy, some fruit and yogurt with a spoon or two of oatmeal.
Keep it really cold, it will be delicious
I agree...
I was raised without the habit of having breakfast. Since I can remember, I had two meals a day - lunch and dinner. That meant I ate a lot at those meals, and the occasional junk food snack in between. About four months ago, I decided to change that.
In four months I haven't missed one breakfast. Usually I have almost the same as SassyLassie - Orange Juice, or Soy milk, and a slice of toasted wholewheat bread whith a thin slice of turkey ham. Some days when I know I will have to stay longer without eating, for whatever reason, I eat a bit more. On the other hand, I try to keep off eating too much at dinner time. Usually just vegetable soup with the occasional piece of fruit.
For years I thought that "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" was a load of *BS* (pardon the expression). But having seen the difference it makes, I can tell you one thing is for sure - I will not miss one ever again!
Hello~Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, if you eat a good, well balanced, it can hold you almost all day, however, if you don't eat, you will want to nibble all day and this puts weight on.
Drinking just coffee is not a good idea, the caffeine can maybe reeve you up for a while, but, in the long run, it can bring on lower blood sugar, and by the middle of the day, you will probably be feeling pretty rough not to mention hungry.
I would try to eat a nice breakfast of scrambled eggs, toast, sausage and juice. This is a fairly low carb meal and actually will NOT put weight on you. Also, a nice bowl of oat meal is always tasty, especially on cold mornings. Cold cereal is great for when you are in a hurry.
There are the instant breakfast drinks, they are OK, but to me, more like a milk shake, but, they are better than nothing.
Also, if you just do not want to eat, have a nice cold glass of Orange Juice, and one piece of whole wheat toast, at least this will give your tummy enzymes something to work on instead of just the coffee.
