girl 3 year old suddenly limping

Hi all,

we have a three year old daughter who suddenly started limping last week wednesday on her right leg.
When we ask what's wrong or what is giving her pain, she points to her shin(bone). We went to the pediatrics dept last friday who did all kind of tests with her legs but he doesn't find anything wrong and thinks it's a small fracture or contusion from falling. However, no X-rays or blood work was done and since it is not getting any better, we are getting quiete worried.
Certainly since we go crazy after googling 'limping in toddlers'.
So we are wondering where there were other parents who had toddlers with something similar and how long did it last?

Thanks for your replies,

Worried parents,

It seemed on the X-ray that there was water on her hip due to an infection. Right now, she is almost walking back normal.

Hi there!

Sudden limping in a child could result from a number of causes, some of which may not be obviously visible and may be associated with pain referred to other regions. A few causes include infections/ inflammations, fractures, growths/ masses, Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease., neural/ muscular disorders, a few blood disorders etc. I would suggest getting this evaluated by an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management.
Hope this was useful.

Take care!
