CA-125 ovarian marker results

I had a CA-125 marker test before my first round of chemo which was at 2308.  I want to know, how high can this type of marker test go?

Also, after my first round of chemo (Doxil), my CA-125  went from 2308 to 548.  I was told by the nurse in the cancer ward that they had never seen a drop like this after the first round of chemo.   It dropped again after the second round of chemo from 548 to 32 in twenty eight days.   Are my drops significant as I am told? And if they are, what are they usually after a first round of chemo if one's CA-125 started out at 2308?

Ditto to what Angie and Becky said about the marker test. I was diagnosed with a CA-125 of 6400 and after my first round of chemo and hysterectomy my CA-125 was 240. It's a great sign!! Let's hope it keeps going down. With love, Deandra

Angie is right...the CA125  won't tell you how much cancer is left in your body, but I would say that drops like that are a great sign that your cancer is responding to the drug.
I hope you continue to get results...

Hi,
The numbers on the ca125 blood test doesn,t relate to the amount of cancer you have but the decreasing trend is a good indicator that the chemo is doing its job so thats great

Best wishes Angie
