Had a pelvic US done....please give feedback

I had a pelvic ultrasound done on Sept 23rd, my results are as follows:

The uterus is mildly enlarged 11.0cm long x 5.5cm AP x 6.3cm transverse
The right ovary measures 2.0x4.4x5.0 with a volume of 24cc.  The right ovary is enlarged.  The measurments of the right ovary include that of an anechoic dominant follicle which measures 1.8x2.3x2.4cm.
The left ovary measures 2.8x3.5x4.7 with a volume of 24cc.  The left ovary is enlarged.  The measurments of the left ovary include that of an anechoic dominant follicle which measures 1.8x2.5x2.6.
Tiny amount of free fluid in the cul-de-sac.
Bilateral ovarian enlargement.

Okay, so I have a copy of this that my family dr got for me, well my gyn office (nurse practioner) called me and said everything is normal??  Am I crazy?  I had originally went to gyn's office because of pain during intercourse.  For well over a week now I have been having bad low abdominal and low back pain.  My dr and er dr has put me on narcotics for the pain, I can not even stand up straight it hurts so bad.  My stomach is distended and has been since a gallbladder surgery I had Aug 18th, but no dr seems to know why.  I have also lost over 20lbs and get so full when only eating very little.  I feel like I am being brushed to the side, like my pain does not matter.........please anyone......do you have any advice for me??  What would you do?

Should the above measurements really be causing me this much pain?

Thanks in Advance

Thanks so much for the reply.  Since my gyn ruled out anything gynecologically (sp?) my family physician has referred me to Hershey Medical Center since none of my dr's seem to know what the problem is.  They are referring me though to a GI dr due to my large distended stomach, but I will surley discuss this pain.  I got my period this morning and these are the worst cramps I have ever had......the Percocet I have been taking for the pain in my low abdomian and low back is not even touching the pain of these cramps........I will be sure to mention endometriosis as a possiability to my dr, hopefully he will do the MRI.  My local GI dr called me yesterday and wants to do another endoscopy procedure next week and if that shows nothing as well they want me to swallow a camera pill.  I just hate all these tests that come back normal......makes me feel like I am loosing my mind.  There is obviously something wrong with me I just so wish they could figure it out.  My Hershey apt is not until Nov 23rd!!!  I will be calling Hershey today to try and get that moved closer, that is totally not acceptable with me being in all this pain.  Thanks so much for your wisdom and advice.  God Speed.

It is common for the ovaries to be slightly enlarged with follicular cysts.  These are fluid filled and go away on their own in time.  A malignancy would present as a complex mass that would not be described in this way.  I am guessing that is why she has told you your findings are "normal."  However, pain is our body's way of telling us something is wrong.  And, since they are both enlarged, you will want to make sure something else isn't going on.  I think you need to find the source of your pain.  You could have a condition like endometriosis that is not able to be seen on a scan.

I think you should ask for a MRI or CT scan to look at your pelvis and abdomen since your pain level sounds severe.  You want to be sure you aren't missing a problem in another area.  Also, these tests will show your ovaries more clearly.  You need to convey to your doctor that your pain level is unacceptable (obviously if you are taking narcotics!).  If your doctor isn't willing to help you, you should get a second opinion.  It is not normal to go deal with that much pain.  If you have increasing pain and can't get timely help, you can go to the ER.  They will surely complete a scan right then and you may get more answers.  Keep us posted on how you are doing!
