It's completely safe to still be nursing ! I'm also 30 weeks and nursing 1 year old ! My dr says it's great. I plan on tandem nursing . Breastfeeding is what's best for my babies so I'll nurse them until they want to wean :) keep up the good work momma !
Why not just keep nursing and then tandem nurse when the baby arrives? If you're still producing milk and your doctor or midwife has no concerns about other complications there's no need to stop. I know lots of moms who tandem nurse their newborns with their toddlers and not a one of them had any preterm labor or other problems. Your body is used to nursing and your little one is obviously still depending on you for that nutrition and comfort. Stopping now could make the transition to big brother even harder for your son since even at 1 year old he's old enough that he'll understand if milk is being taken away from him and given to the baby instead... which could lead to some serious resentment.
Well if you're close to your due date and still breastfeeding that can cause preterm labor, so you'll definitely need to stop. Have you tried any supplemental formula that helps transition? Also, you can mix breastmilk and formula to get him used to the formula. Maybe talk to your doctor on options because I don't think it's safe to still be breastfeeding
