Thanks for the advice everyone :) I'm due in August so I will let you all know how I go once she's here, fingers crossed!
The stores sell nipple shields, u can buy one to help with breastfeeding if your baby cant latch at first. It helped me
A test for if your nipples are truly inverted is to pinch about an inch out from your nipple, thumb an inch below, fingers an inch above. If your nipple goes in rather than poking out or staying put, they're inverted. BUT that doesn't mean you can't successfully breastfeed, it just means it's harder to get started.
One of my friends has inverted nipples and it took two months of working her butt off to breastfeed exclusively. She just had her second baby and they're doing okay but having issues with some things. Definitely seek out a lactation consultant if they're inverted, and I'd also suggest a prenatal breastfeeding class.
Really! I think ill try that too then, if I pump first will I have enough to feed her on the breast straight after? I wanna try anything and everything! Hopefully mine stay out after a while haha @kennimae
Mine were the same way and I am now breastfeeding my second. I kind of just pinch it out and make them get hard. You can also pump before hand to get them stimulated before you latch. After a few days they just stay out then. It takes work but is worth it.
Oh really!! Damn it that *****! I hope my baby will latch I really want to be able to breast feed her :( do yours come out when your cold or if you stimulate them? @babysaywhat
I have inverted nipples and I couldn't he wouldnt latch :( I tried everything but hope it works for you
Thanks so much ladies! I'd be so upset if I couldn't breastfeed my little girl :) xx
They make plenty of stuff to help with that but the lactation consultant I seen said they're not suppose to be just on the nipple but the whole areola as much as possible so it doesn't get sore and stuff so I think bf would be perfect for you :-)
Mine were the same way before my first baby. Sometimes they will harden on their own before the baby comes. If not then you can rub them to get them hard and ready for baby to get a better grip or you can buy a nipple guard.
