My doctor told me also not to take it together with prenatal cause it would make my stomach hurt. (taking iron cause iron was low also) she also told me to take it with orange juice cuz its absorbed better. I take mine before going to sleep....that tends to help me alot.
It's probably because you're taking too much iron at one time. Your prenatal has iron in it, add more iron to that, and you've got yourself a very upset stomach.
I can't take iron period. It makes me throw up constantly. I've tried all te tricks and none of them work for me. Even prenatals with iron make me sick. I'm anemic but my dr said that since I have such a difficult time with it to eat iron rich foods so I've been eating a lot of broccoli and things like that. Also some cereals are fortified with iron so that's a way you can still get iron and it's much more gentle on your stomach :)
I didn't take my iron pill last night because I was scared to take it and risk throwing up again. I will probably start eating more iron rich foods to boost my iron so I don't have to take the supplement anymore. Thanks ladies :)
My wife takes her Iron pill at night and in the morning she takes complex super B.....I was told by my doc that prenatal is at 5 months....because of the Iron in it...
I take my iron supplement and prenatal together everyday. My doctor told me to do it that way. I also did this with my first child and before I got pregnant with this one. Never herd that your not supose to take together. But it does say on the side of my iron pill not to take with antacids. But the only time I get sick when I take them is if I don't drink a glass if water with it and if I don't eat something right before I take them (it says on the side of my bottles to do both anyway) but eating more iron enriched foods is better atleasttoday thats what my doctor said. Something about not needing to rely on the supplement. I can't remember her exact words about it. Hope this helps.
