Its when they place your baby on your chest straight after he/she is born so that baby bonds quicker with mother it also helps the baby to breath after birth
^^^ what she said . But only thing is , when having a csection you have to wait till you go back to your room to do skin to skin cause of them stitching you back together . Now if you have a baby natural , I think you can do skin to skin right after the baby is out . I had both my kids by csection , I did skin to skin with both my boys (: also helped me with breastfeeding with my youngest !
Yes skin to skin or kangaroo care is very good for calming baby, it helps them breath stable and helps control body temperature. Also helps hugely with breastfeeding. Depending on hospital condition of baby ect after a csection you may get to do this immediately. But often after a cesarean they wait until you get to the recovery room which is bs. If not necessary. I would bring it up and all about it as well as put it in your birth plan. Vaginally delivered they can almost always give you baby immediately again unless baby isn't responding well.
When i had my csection They wanted to do skin to skin with me and my daughter but i refused i was so drugged up i couldn't hold her was afraid to drop her because i couldn't feel my arms
