Hi,
I’ve read some of the questions/answers and for the most part I feel comfortable that I am not at risk and shouldn’t worry.
However, I had a brief protected vaginal encounter with a sex worker.
I have been reading that syphilis, hpv and herpes can be transmitted even while wearing a condom; so now that has me worrying. Again the protected vaginal sex lasted maybe 4 or 6 minutes. She also did oral while I was wearing the condom.
Lastly. I had another encounter with a man that involved oral while wearing a condom, mutual masturbation without a condom and gentle French kissing. For what I read this is super low risk but wanted to get clarification on the unprotected mutual masturbation because there could have been some bodily fluids exchanged and finally about the kissing if there was any real risk.
Thank you very much for your help
Yes, herpes/syphilis/HPV can be transmitted with condom use. These are transmitted by direct skin to skin (genital skin to skin, not arm/back/chest/whatever skin) contact, and condoms don't cover all the skin. However, condoms offer significant protection, and reduce the risk greatly.
Remember that sex workers wear condoms to protect themselves from their clients. They are protecting their health, their livelihoods, etc. They are doing this job to feed themselves and their families. They often test more than the general public, and have more vaccinations than the general public.
I don't know if you are worried because you went outside of a relationship, but guilt doesn't equal risk. Your risk is very low.
