Hi Everybody,
I was sexually attacked in August 2014. I was not sure as to whether my attackers were HIV positive. I was put on Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) within 34 hours [This should be taken as soon as possible if you have a potential exposure - go directly to the Hospital Emergency Room US / Accident & Emergency UK / Urgence FR ]. This was a regime of Truvada (1 tablet per day) and Kaletra (2 tablets in the morning and 2 in the evening). I was also screened for all STDs at this point. I was also given the emergency Hepatitis B.
One day after begining the treatment of the PEP I started seeing what looked like a white milky discharge from my penis head. Fearing that I had an STD, I waited around 10 days for it to develop, it didn't go away. I went to an STI clinic and had a test for Gonorrhea and Clamydia. The nurse also swabbed the white liquid and sent it for test. On closer inspection it looked like the skin on the head of my penis had gone very pail and the liquid was just urine. There was also a smell associated with it. The test came back negative.
On the 21st day I took an HIV test - the P24 Antigen/Antibody combination which is supposed to be around 80% - 90% reliable at this stage after the exposure. This came back negative. 1 week later, exactly 28 days after exposure, I took another P24 antigen/antibody combo test, at this point this test is reported to be 99.8% reliable. This came back negative. I also tested negative for Syphillis and Hepititis B. On the 29th day, I did another series of tests at the original hospital who gave me the PEP, they tested for all major STDs but did not do a P24 Antigen Combo test for HIV. I have not been contacted so can only assume they were negative.
My issue is that my penis is sometimes inflamed around the urethra (penis hole). I also sometimes feel a slight burning during urination and also when ejaculating. This is not new and is similar to a condition I had previously which seemed to be associated with Thrush. I used thrush cream and it seemed to go away.
