about sub-clinical hyperthyroid

Hi
My friend told me he has sub-clinical hyperthyroid
I have googled it and he does not fit in to hyperthyroid he more acts as if he is hypothyroid
He sits around most the day and is forgetful and I think he is depressed is there a way I can help him out.

I also now he is getting blood tests every month and he is taking a multivitamin.

Hi I’m sorry about mark but I did not give him all the facts
Just enough to get him off my case
Ok all thyroid antibody tests came back negative and I did the test twice.
I do have nodules on my thyroid and they are starting to increases in size.
I did get tested for all pituitary gland hormones and endocrine system hormones the only exception was tsh imbalance nothing to worry about yet.
All vitamins and minerals are normal.
There is a lump on my back just above the kidneys this also is nothing to worry about (but will get it removed)
I have disused all my symptoms with my doctors and when they occur and we are waiting for a fleer up before anything is done.
It may be a number of different problems.
Thyroid
Lupus
Reynard’s
But all are treatable and manageable
I’m a little pissed off that mark did this?
And thank for the comments Gimel

He was being called subclinical hyperthyroid based on his TSH level.  TSH is a pituitary hormone that supposedly reflects the levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4, but in actuality it cannot be shown to correlate well with either, much less with symptoms, which are more important.

Just from looking at the Free T3 and Free T4 results, it does not jump out as causing significant hypo symptoms.  Would you please show him this link that lists 26 typical hypo symptoms and ask which ones he seems to have.

Also, since he has nodules, has he been tested for Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, by testing for the thyroid antibodies?  Sometimes with Hashi's nodules will form and will leak thyroid hormone faster than normal and cause swings from hypo to hyper and back.   The tests for Hashi's are TPO ab and TG ab

Other possibilities include, low Vitamin D, B12, and ferritin.  If not tested for those it would be a good idea.  Also, note that just being in the low end of the ranges is not adequate either.

Ok I did talk to him today and he told me that his has nodules on his thyroid and that one side is bigger than the other.
He did mention he thought he had lupus at the start but is hopping that it is just thyroid problems
I did get his thyroid function test that says.
TSH is 0.14 and the range is 0.3 to 3.5
Ft3   is 5.0 and the range is 2.6 to 6.0
Ft5   is 13.9 and the range is 9.0 to 19.0
This was his last test

Is he sure that he is getting the blood tests he needs?  If you will post his blood test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report, members will be glad to offer their opinions about the adequacy of his testing and diagnosis.
