Great, low fat, dinner!

wow,

i couldnt sleep the other night, so i was online i looked up "easy receipes"

well... not only did i find a whole bunch, but the one i tried last night was extremly low in fat and a good source of protein.

all you need is
4 chicken breats, 500ml (2 cups) or sour cream, i used the fat free one and it turned out great, and a box of stuffing.(i used stovetop stuffing)

preheat the oven to 375, place the chicken in a caserol pan, cover it with the sour cream, then pour the stuffing on top. cover it (with alluminum foil) and bake for 30-35 mins. Uncover it after that and bake for another 5-10 minutes.

VERY TENDER chicken. I put cooked and chopped bacon on my boyfriend's side of the dish and he really enjoyed it.

Anyway, came out nice, very filling, put without the gross bloated feeling after. I served it on rice, with a garden salad and it made a great meal.

Sounds blah, but when you want a cheap, easy dinner, try it!!!

I'm not sure how the yogurt would hold up with heat either - that's an interesting question.

My concern with the dressing is that it's probably made with white bread and is going to have a lot of simple carbs, which will enter the blood quickly and won't stick with you long.  Same goes for the white rice;  that's where the brown rice could come in.

I still might try it.  If you use the yogurt, let me know how it works.

The sour cream i used (which is now in the garbage) had a total of 280 calories in the 500ml serving... I'm not sure what kind i used but i'll try to find it again in the next time i do groceries.

The stuffing, I honestly didnt check this time, but at christmas i remember being shocked at how few calories there were in each serving (and i really believe that it was stovetop that i used at christmas)... and each serving was a decent amount. Now don't hold me to this, my memory fails me QUITE often =P

Yogurt would probably work well... not sure how it does with heat but providing it doesnt go weired it should be ok =P

you know what, i'll try it with yogurt next time. I'll let you know how it goes... if anyone tries it before me let me know!!

It does sound tasty, but I think the stove top stuffing has quite a few calories; and of course, it's dressing - made with bread so mostly simple carbs. I'm not sure about the calories in the sour cream, but I think there's quite a few even though it's fat free.  Using brown rice rather than white would add some complex carbs (fiber) that would stick with you longer.  I wonder how it would work if you used plain yogurt in place of sour cream?  Any ideas on that?

Read the labels on the packages/cartons to get the accurate calorie count/nutritional value.

That does sound good!! Did it give the calories, fat, and fiber information?
